I may have a need to use a serial terminal (over usb but still) a bit in future. I made it basically work just using "screen" pointed at the /dev/tty device. Problem is, the UI of the thing I'm serial-ing into just in a few places requires a Ctrl-Q ... and in Mint in a normal terminal window running screen in this way... it doesn't work. It just doesn't do the thing Ctrl+Q is meant to do.Any ideas?

I have just witnessed my wife make a cup of milky coffee as then tip a sachet of Quaker Oats into it and eat/drink it with a spoon. I have said this isn’t a normal way to consume these things but she doesn’t entirely believe me. Please help.@shitkemisays

Paid peering sounds like an utter shitshow, dreamed up by people whose business models didn't imagine their broadband customers would "use the internet" and therefore "generate traffic". Now they are attempting to describe "traffic" as "abusive" which is fucking bullshit. They sold internet connections. That implied usage. Always. Proper transit and peering (99% of the time( should have been factored in at the outset. It's a cost of doing business, or ought to be.

This is like water companies, already billing their clients for their water pipes and usage, recognising that hot-tub ownership is rising, and water usage is rising, AND DECIDING TO CHARGE A FEE TO **HOT TUB MANUFACTURERS** WHO THEY SAY ARE "RESPONSIBLE" FOR THE "ABUSIVE" WATER USAGE.THIS IS A TOTALLY FUCKED ATTITUDE. The biggest stupidity for me is the stubborn refusal to use anything more than cameras for sensors, essentially on the basis that “humans drive using only their eyes”. Firstly that’s bullshit; I use my ears too. But secondly, tech exists that humans can use to augment their own faculties. Why would an autonomous vehicle not use the absolutely best that technology has to offer? Madness.

First email (I think) today from a customer asking if there is a way we can turn off content filtering and that nobody in their house is under 18, so why are they impacted. Had to reply that it isn't us doing the filtering. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE ADULTS? JUST FOR ONCE?

I also advised the customer that I had tested the URL they were having trouble with via Mullvad VPN and that I *had* been able to access it via that. FYI it was NOT porn. So this isn't about porn, really, is it... It's about surveillance and a misjudgement of comparative risk.

Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a brand new iPhone 13 mini, which supports both eSIM and plastic SIM?I’m thinking “new old stock”.I have looked at eBay and many/all the ones that are “new” on there are non eSIM capable ones; I suspect from China. These are no use.

I wondered what my uber rating was, because apparently some drivers have a rule of thumb to decline anyone less than 4.9.My rating is 4.89.
