@berkes @mvz @aral @AstaMcCarthy Mining is using much more electricity than other stuff for a currency that speculates increasing the price and decreasing to just make money as inversions where you can turn into rich or poor, while Nano currency never changes its value. So mining (wasting energy) for just that sounds stupid. Blockchain is a nice technology but we have bad implementations like Bitcoin and others to just make money by inversions and wasting energy stupidly. Capitalism.

@berkes @mvz @aral @AstaMcCarthy https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2021/5/13/bitcoin-dips-below-50000-as-musk-calls-energy-usage-insane"Musk posted a chart on Twitter from the University of Cambridge showing Bitcoin’s electricity consumption has skyrocketed this year." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

@berkes that mining uses too much energy is known already. A waste of energy... Elon Musk is mainly a troll but he said one true fact about mining. That's why ethereum is working in https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/consensus-mechanisms/pos/ you are lying yourself while people working on this tech is trying to solve this issue.

@berkes You are lying to yourself when you say the BTC value is worth to use an excessive energy for a virtual money. The value is just speculation, nothing real, only numbers raising and decreasing.

@kev @ndanes I also have the standing desk with the two screens (mines are 27'') with this arm, I think is the best setup.

@mike I would rather get a normal laptop amd64, I never liked ARM unless for small devices like Raspberry PI but not as a system to work with. And looks like there is no difference in a normal laptop, only that the laptop will not spend that much energy with unneeded a touchscreen.

@jrballesteros05 @celia that's a very objective point, I always hate Apple because I had a bad experience with them (I had all apple products), now with Linux I learn how to use it easily, the servers are easy to manage, the updating method (apt update, pacman -Syu...) it's simple, fast and efficient... Be able to do anything you need from terminal, helps a lot than using just a single and limited GUI. I'm a backend developer so that helps a lot for my work too. And there is always docs/info.

@datenschutzratgeber @PublicNuisance @MurrayWindripper @Tutanota Seems like now Signal is planning to make some closed source code on their servers.

@PublicNuisance I use AirVPN for years, they are good, you can use their Eddie UI or just generate the open vpn configurations to integrate it with your network manager on the system. A lot of server and the speed is pretty good.

@milo @Linux4Everyone It happened to Linus on one of his videos, maybe POP_OS isn't that good distro as they think.

@milo @Linux4Everyone https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2021/11/system76-patches-apt-for-pop-os-to-prevent-users-breaking-their-systems they needed to patch it, this doesn't happen on others systems. "You can easily do some finger-pointing on where the real blame lies here from Pop not ensuring a major package like Steam works correctly before it's pushed to users"

@aral Most electronic devices are made by resources extracted by slavery workers and even kids on mines and I don't see anyone stopping to buy devices. NATO has did much more damage and no one did anything for them. I'm not saying Russia is right to invade, just saying you only care when it affects Europe, that's kinda racist.
