@foone I never thought of it this way, but now API 0 is going to be stuck in my head forever. I had a ticket for an in-house web app closed because the feature could be abused, and now I just click a bookmarklet that implements it. My life’s full of adversarial automations, and I love your description here.

@futurebird This. Is. Gorgeous. I've never wanted a lofted bed, but if it was a good excuse to buy a step chest this pretty, I'd make it happen.

@futurebird it’s right wing Soma (thats the opiate in brave new world, right?). It has no subtle meaning, so it’s easy to process. It depicts their ideals: an attractive cishet couple, sacrifice in the military, cheap cars. Then it adds a touch of victimhood, but also a quick solution: if you like this post, things get better. For so many Americans, this is an instant dopamine hit in a lonely life.

@futurebird just asked my partner, who is nearing the end of her PhD in education psychology. Her thesis is on critical thinking, critical theory, and motivation. She shrugged and said we’re probably right. I’d love to learn differently, too, but I’ve spent too much time around rural right wingers to get my hopes up. :/

@MLE_online EXIF data kinda sucks sometimes. I had to put in a ticket for our in-house data entry software to get them to pay attention to the EXIF rotation value. I'll bet one message app (iOS) respects the rotation, while the other doesn't.

@futurebird it’s kinda thrilling to see what the campaign team is capable of doing, given a viable candidate. I’m not sure how much turnover there was going from Biden to Harris, but I don’t believe there was much if any. We’re only a week in to the new campaign, but it feels like it’s been a month of fun and effective messaging! I wonder what’s getting through to conservatives and swing voters?

@futurebird unfortunately, the voter rolls aren’t pseudo-private to prevent a bad thing, or because the voters are uncomfortable with it. They’re pseudo-private because a) states don’t trust each other or care to cooperate with each other (see ERIC) and b) because this system concentrates wealth; bringing riches to the owners of the aggregation companies, and restricting the public’s knowledge.

@vitalis I love Fishwife. I have either their rainbow trout or Szechuan pepper salmon on rice for lunch fairly often. The trout would be great on crackers, though it’s less consistently moist than the salmon is.

@moira Is this better or worse than the way gravity only exists on their space stations when there’s air? I can’t decide.

@moira Ow ow ow no that hurts just as much. I can’t overlook drinks in glasses in peoples’ hands. Also there’s at least one scene where someone on a spinning ring looks up through a window in the ceiling, and “up” points away from the wheel’s center. And another where people in a center shaft have gravity pointing along the axis of rotation. All stations have spinning segments but… don’t… need them?Don’t get me started on textile quality 100 years after a nuclear war.
