@wizard Sleep apnea is a plausible explanation for that.

@falktx Whoa, I'm kinda surprised GitHub even lets you do that.

The one time I tested positive for COVID was during that enormous peak two years ago. This asshole roommate I was living with at the time went out on NYE then. A day or two later, I heard him coughing. He didn't even have the decency to tell me he was sick, so I was questioning whether he had COVID until I got sick 1-2 days later.

This morning, my current roommate was coughing a lot. Learning from that past experience, now I am thoroughly ventilating with open windows and fans even though it's 2°C outside. I'd rather be cold than sick. I have my air purifier running on high and am wearing an N95 at home.

If you have to share a home with someone who is sick, VENTILATE! And be mindful of how air is flowing through the building. Point a fan out the window of the sick person's room and another fan blowing in from the window of an adjacent room to push the viruses outside. Keep the bathroom exhaust fan going all the time. If your stove hood actually vents outside (many don't), keep that running too. Keep a window open at least a little bit in every room, even though it wastes energy heating/cooling.

He tested negative for COVID, but I'm still keeping my mask on at least for the rest of today.

COVID tip: carry two masks with you so you can switch between them when condensation builds up on one

@falktx IIRC they allow 5 concurrent jobs for free. Is that still the case? I suppose if you only have one set of 50 jobs going at once, they're each short, and 5 run in parallel, 50 minutes in total is not too bad.

@falktx ah right, I think the 5 concurrent jobs limit is for the macOS runners

Data centers guzzle power, threatening Washington's clean energy pushhttps://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/times-watchdog/power-hungry-how-the-data-center-boom-drained-wa-of-hydropower/There simply is not enough electricity from non-carbon emitting sources to power data centers *and* things that actually matter to human life, like agriculture and transportation. Nor can there be enough electrical generation infrastructure installed within the coming decades to have spare electricity left over for frivolous things like "AI".

Wearing a mask is not a big deal. Not wearing a mask is a big deal.

Until a year or so ago, I thought that wearing an N95 was a big deal because my experience with N95s was extremely uncomfortable hard shell masks provided by an institution that I couldn't tolerate wearing for more than 20-30 minutes. It is a massive failure of public health education that I did not know that comfortable N95s exist and they cost less than a dollar each so long as you don't buy a tiny 3 pack at Walgreens.

4 years into this airborne pandemic, I still see people wearing surgical masks in public. There's no good reason for that when actually effective masks are so cheap. It's a huge failure of public health education. The system won't educate us, so we have to educate each other.

Did you know that not only are N95 masks very effective at protecting the wearer, they're also very effective for source control to avoid infected people spreading viruses? https://sph.umd.edu/news/study-shows-n95-masks-near-perfect-blocking-escape-airborne-covid-19Of course symptomatic people should wear N95s without exhalation valves.

If the Linux Foundation banned anyone working for any military contractor arming war crimes, I don't think there would be many kernel maintainers left considering all the big tech companies are military contractors.

Any ideas why an SD card would have a sporadic >50x slowdown in read speads that lasts for 10-40 seconds? This isn't normal behavior of slow SD cards, is it?
