@natecull well, even if they’re solving complex math equations, they’re still not useful equations, but rather deliberately Rube Goldbergesque systems designed to be hard to compute not to do anything really helpful

@_dmh @soldni hashtags are def powerful. Sometimes I even look up films/shows/books/author’s names as hashtags to uncover people with similar interests who I might not have otherwise come across. It’s kinda fun discovering folks with similar passions!

@Joseph_of_Earth @tek it’s also the case that instances with barriers to entry might present a roadblock in people’s adoption of these tools altogether. I was just chatting today with a colleague about the need for something like a well-moderated but very easy to join instance for people to try for a short period of time before being transitioned off to other servers. Just learning the tools can be tricky, having a dedicated place to try it out can be good.

I don’t know much about #ActivityPub or the #DDOS effect that’s happening with link previews, but I wonder if something that could help alleviate issues while longer term solutions are in the works is to not display previews in timeline view and only request that info if someone clicks into an individual post.#MastoMeta #MastoMusing
