@tomjennings - I'm venturing on a project to migrate my 150.000+ photos library from mac fotos.app - glad you're happy, I'd like to hear if you came across anything I should avoid ;-)

@tomjennings - just fought with that a couple of weekends ago. I hate apple's removal of core features!

@foone - anyhow, good choice. Classic accessible, repairable, expandable performer

@nasa_bot the exposure times for the different parts of the image vs. their lack of movement relative to one another don't seem to add up

@azonenberg - ok, tell me about that thunderbolt sfp+ dongle, please.I have a USB-C SFP one, and always came up empty looking for a SFP+ one. a) I don't understand why USB-C shouldn't also be able to give me more than just SFP can, so why not USB-C to SPF+;b) it didn't occur to me to search for thunderbolt; maybe because I'm on AMD, where apparently most of thunderbolt just works but not under that name...

@foone - is there a common set of symbols to use on a board or a set of headers to denote native and tolerated voltage-levels?Or maybe sth more subtle like the shape of the pads?

@tomjennings - this is what the iPod Touch was. Had a viable use case when data plans were prohibitively expensive and unthinkable i.e. for children.

@tomjennings - I don't know if it is any comfort, but this relates mostly to the US. There is a world outside the US.

@tomjennings - the Palms synced faster though, and more reliably, and also didn't block by asking for passwords at some unforeseeable step in the middle, like iPhones do. Just press the dock button and "pling"

@phoronix - now with OpenAI having bought all RAM, people won't be able to run local AI anymore, meaning everyone is forced into the clouds. Glad my computing needs for the next few years are covered and I avoid AI anyway...

@foone - wouldn't it suffice to intercept the stepper signals and inject the signals from a microstepping stepper driver (as used in 3D printers)?
