@adamasnemesis Thanks, just like I thought. I did a little research a few years ago in Mussolini&#39;s admiration of Napoleon especially in his early years as dictator and had the same impression.

Leute in #Berlin, wenn ihr wählen dürft, geht am Sonntag wählen. Das letzte Mal, als die CDU regierte, war die Stadt nachher Pleite, die Sozialwohnungen wurden verscherbelt, der Rassismus grassierte. Es gibt keinen Grund anzunehmen, dass es dieses Mal anders liefe.

@stanford Es war schon graduell noch schlimmer mit der CDU und aus der Enteignung ist konkret nichts geworden, weil weder SPD noch Grüne in Berlin so recht wollen.

@anderspuck Let&#39;s hope the lifes of everyone involved in the abduction and brainwashing of Ukrainian children will be turned into a nightmare by the international justice system. The very least would be to have them and their closest relatives on a list of people not allowed to enter European countries.

@CitizenWald @CitizenWald A few years back I did some work on a play by librettist Giovacchino Forzano on the hundred days cowritten with Mussolini. The play was quite important for the early years of fascist-nationalsocialist cooperation in the field of culture and was later adapted for film.

@CitizenWald I stumbled across the Jan Hus play during the research as Forzano edited the plays written by Mussolini after the war in Italy. But I never read it. The one on Napoleon is quite dull but not uninteresting for Mussolini&#39;s vision of Europe prior to his attack on Ethiopia.

Garten im Frühjahr ist immer wieder toll. Es hummelt auch schon wieder sehr. Leider bin ich als Fotograf viel zu träg, um Blumen und Hummeln gleichzeitig aufs Bild zu kriegen.

@CitizenWald Very interesting, thank you. I read Heinrich Eduard Jacob&#39;s book on coffee from the 1930s (or 1920s?) a few years ago and discovered the cultural history of coffee as a new topic for reading. It just takes you to so many different other topics - like coffee houses and their link to politics.

Warum lohnt das? Weil sich bis heute (v.a. unter ehemaligen Kinogänger_innen der DDR) die Idee hält, die kritische Darstellung des Umgangs der US-Politik und Kavallerie mit den nordamerikanischen Ureinwohner_innen sei etwas komplett Neues des DDR-Westerns gewesen.

Dieses Missverständnis wäre eine ganze Filmreihen wert, aber mit dem Triple Feature wird klar, dass diese Idee fehlgeleitet ist und zugleich welche Unterschiede es zwischen dem kritischen Blick eines US-Regisseurs und dem seiner beiden DDR-Kollegen gibt.
