@Linux_in_a_Bit Wait, were we supposed to vote for the right or wrong answer?

@BrodieOnLinux starting to think this whole security breach was a segue to their sponsor, Bitwarden.

@BrodieOnLinux "the community fixes Discord because Discord can't"...again?

@lamp I think I heard that it won't actually break stuff, apps can still access the android/ folder, it's just that BMBF will need some more perms.I'm not certain though, don't quote me on that. I think there's more info in the Beat Saber modding discord server.

Bing's new AI is pretty much just OpenAI (incl. ChatGPT) but with the capability of using Bing itself as a search engine, to get more up-to-date and accurate knowledge about a certain input. It can also generate images, but it's literally just Dall-E.I asked it to get info about my website and it seems to have copied word-for-word certain things, such as what music I enjoy (I have info about that written on my website, it just told me that exact info).

I'd be lying if I said it isn't interesting, but I can't see myself using it either. ChatGPT is a knowledge engine, that isn't managed by a monopoly with questionable ethics that I have personally had many gripes with. Bing is just that, with a search engine strapped to it. Not to mention very, VERY specific app and browser requirements. If you've seen ChatGPT, it's pretty much that, but it can look up things, and it's less fun.

How to offend Bing: ask it to compare itself to other AIs.

@omnipotens that'd definitely be an interesting thing to see! Bing is GPT4, ChatGPT (for now) is GPT3, so their core knowledge might depend on that, but also their knowledge base. I find ChatGPT "knows" more, whereas Bing searches online quite a bit more (for better or worse).

@james quite frankly, I might just archive it, haven't logged in there for a while (few months).might make a Pleroma acc on starnix.network if anything, they seem to be the type of instance I'm looking for (neutral/unpolarized, indirectly tech-related). absturztau.be is a fine instance and all, but I feel it's somewhat opinionated, and I didn't jive along with the community's core values. still gotta do my research about starnix, but that'll be done later.anyway, you're free to go ahead and follow; it might just be somewhat useless.

@james@mk.starnix.network @james@pl.starnix.network honestly, the instances that block LR.O, I couldn't care less, they're already making a joke of themselves, and I can't help but laugh at some of the reasons given.the instances that block Starnix, boo hoo, what am I gonna do about it. some have actual reasons, others also make a joke of themselves (at least in my view). not that I care much, I only have one or two follows from fediblocked instances.

@Linux_in_a_Bit Semi-related, the AutoEq project is an absolute life saver to tune headphones to sound more balanced-like, with presets automatically generated.https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq

@Linux_in_a_Bit and I totally agree. I actually prefer how different my headphones sound compared to that of AutoEq's more balanced ones, most of the time.

I'm having to make use of my Mastodon account since I believe Starnix Network doesn't support TLS 1.2, which is the latest that this version of Internet Explorer will support.Anywho, hello from an HP Mini netbook running Windows 7 in IE8!

@omnipotensseriously, they don't point out any evidence of this whatsoever? and people are actually falling for it?we don't block instances willy nilly not only because that's bad practice for the health of the network (plus, the user can always block/mute users/instances themselves according to their beliefs instead of having them dictated, in which case blame the user not the instance), but because with the very nature of federation on this network we may not even need to (we only fetch data from other, potentially bad instances because it was requested (if we follow someone, if someone we follow interacted with a post, etc), but if we don't need to fetch from said bad instance then we won't even need to block it; we don't even communicate to it.)I'm probably trying to make sense of something that doesn't make any; all I can think about all this is "what the actual fuck."
