@werwolf @edgren You can also use something like #zerotier to connect to the Raspberry Pi from the outside. I use this to connect to my #nextcloud instance. This also gives me a static IP address without having to contact my ISP.This let me map a subdomain to my Zerotier IP and enable SSL. In all it was very easy to setup. Way easier than messing with traditional VPN or opening my home network.Zerotier is also #foss :fosstodon: so that's an added bonus! :linus:

Well shit… :blobcatdied: Just had an interview where they asked me to build some small app that would allow for uploading and parsing of an #XML file.Waisted so much time trying to use a third party library for the xml parsing. Never used XML before and probably should’ve just used a #Regex.

@fatboy they aren’t even superheroes movies anymore. They are Fantasy sci-fi garbage with loose ties to the superhero archetype. I’ve been re-watching Heroes recently and feel that we’re missing some thing from the early 2000s comic book superhero genre.

@brandon personally, when I visit back home and from Japan get reverse culture I find that I want is room to vent. Someone to talk through my nitpicks with, or simply just some room to vent by myself.I find that it comes in phases:1. Complete weirded out2. Excitement3. Annoyance4. AcceptanceHonestly, it just takes time to adjust and accept that things are going to be different. Living abroad amazing and most people never get the chance. Try to enjoy it if you can!

Longevity is the reason I jumped from #android to #iphone. I was a steadfast #nexus6p user for the longest time. I bought a refurbished nexus from a friend who also had one. The battery started dying around two years in and then Google pushed an update. My friend’s phone started to die first then mine a few weeks later. I couldn’t even have GMaps open for more than 5 minutes before the phone would off itself.1/?

I was short on money at the time and bought a used iPhone 5C that was around 5 years old. That phone was amazing, still worked like brand new. It may have been running an outdated version of iOS but I could still install any app that I wanted. They camera may have been shit, but hey at least I could trust my phone to not corrupt the image when saving.2/?

There are so many things that android have that makes me Jealous about mainly The ability to flash custom ROMs, but my phone lasting more than 3 years is huge.When I eventually got some money I bought an iPhone 8 and loved it. The only reason I upgraded to an iPhone 13 last year was because I dropped my phone and the screen shattered and I was tired of cutting my fingers on it.3/3

I don’t really understand the #news tab in the #explore page on #mastodon. I get that it shows an aggregation of popular news stories that people have posted across my instance, but how come I can’t click the listing to see the discussions? Or, would be nice to have a list of hashtags that have been associated with the story or something so that I would have a way to search for the discussions. Right now it just seems like a half baked #hackernews (at lease on my instance)
