If you use #gitea, a service that runs it (e.g. #codeberg), or just follow its development, how likely is it that their recent announcements will change your use of the software?A few links if you need a little background:- Oct 25, original Gitea blog post https://blog.gitea.io/2022/10/open-source-sustainment-and-the-future-of-gitea/- Oct 28, open letter to Gitea from community members expressing concern https://gitea-open-letter.coding.social- Oct 30, Lunny and techknowlogick reaffirm their intent to proceed as previously announced https://blog.gitea.io/2022/10/a-message-from-lunny-on-gitea-ltd.-and-the-gitea-project/

@foxhkron Yes, it isn't a medical term. It simply means that your brain developed or works differently from what is currently considered normal.

@foxhkron I suppose whether or not social anxiety is "normal" could be up for debate, but I'm not going to put myself in the position of deciding how we should label people.

@art I agree with the sentiment, of course, but man is it frustrating. Pretty sweet setup that's been contrived... workers feeling obligated to compensate other workers when neither control the means of production ๐คจ

Codeberg is sadly still having problems getting removed from blocklists. Check out Stephen van Ruth's OISD lists if you find that yours don't remove false positives quickly. They're an amalgam of various other blocklists and whitelists with practicality in mind. There's also an alternative list without whitelisting for the more cautious. https://oisd.nl#Codeberg #oisd #blocklist #adblock #PiHole #AdGuardHome

That feeling after you're all done installing a new distro and configuring it the way you want. OK now what? Back to real life? Fuck.

Can I just say how annoyed I am that I might have to start checking any #golang software I use to see if the developer disabled telemetry? It's a prime example of how #OpenSource does not necessarily imply #FreeSoftware. And yes, I mean free as in "freedom."

In a couple weeks I'll officially no longer be a student. I should maybe update my bio, but without a job lined up or any kind of focus on my personal projects... I don't know, "jackass who sometimes writes code" doesn't have the same flow to it ๐

@alejandrobdn Nice video, very succinct. I pretty much agree on every point, just in an angrier less coherent way ๐> Tell your employees to stop patronizing me by telling me I can download CentOS StreamJust that by itself could lower my blood pressure a couple points.

@Codeberg I'm curious if this provides (or might provide) any noticeable improvement in resource usage for your servers?I guess I could test this on my personal forgejo but I'm obviously not at Codebergs scale with only ~50 repos and a couple orgs

@hirnsalat @rcombs It makes me absolutely fucking insane that DRM is always deceptively sold as beneficial for the public. *Just once* I would for like a company to be honest about their intent.

@blakeyrat @chiraag @rcombs In plain English, it reallocates control from the many (i.e. users) to the few (Google) which is a direct threat to the open web. You're correct that it isn't DRM in the same way as widevine, it's more like the Play Store - if your device/client doesn't play by Google's rules it's not going to work right.

One of the domains I own has been flagged by Google as possibly dangerous/maliciousNormally I'd be annoyed, in this case it's a domain that I don't link to publicly and only use for personal stuff... So I think I'm ok with a big "keep out" sign on that site

@alejandrobdn It is a little illogical that the initial human response to something we don't understand is to place ourselves above it... Although I can't deny that I've enjoyed the impulse myself from time to time.

@alejandrobdn Hm I guess as a native speaker fearsome is closer to tremendous in scale, but closer to scary in meaning. If that makes any sense haha. Tremendous would be more neutral/less negative.
