@WelshPixie I like that I can start and stop various calendar layouts depending on what's going on in my life.I like that hand-writing my schedule makes me slow down and take on a bit less. A lot of my project planning is in written format; I like having it all in one book. Carrying 3 or 4 gets silly fast!I like that if I disengage for a bit, when I get back I don't feel compelled to fill in the blank pages. I can always start where I am.

@RAPIDPUNCHES Hey, do you know about IMSLP? you might find it a useful resource for public domain sheet music.

Myers-Briggs personality typing has no basis in science and is also totally inadequate as a personality shorthand. Thinking and feeling aren't opposites, nor are perception and judgement. Even introversion vs extraversion is complicated (I "measure" as somewhat introverted, but it's due to incidental sensory stuff). If you describe yourself with four capital letters, all I really know iabout you is that you're the sort of person who might take it seriously.

I so do not have time to talk about this in any depth right now but I think success on #Patreon has way more to do with what you do outside of Patreon than how you configure your rewards. The steps go:1) do the work 2) give people a reason to support you in it3) ensure they know you exist4) make it easy for them to give you moneyPatreon is step 4). For me step 2) involves putting my work online for free, and step 3) is mostly demo recordings, which I have been v v lax about recently.

OK, I think spaced repetition might acgtually be why I like #BulletJournal so much. It seems like it's inefficient to copy over my schedule and tasks each week, but actually, the act of doing that forces a regular review of them and this means I'm more likely to remember what I'm supposed to be doing and less likely to need to look it up.More on spaced repetition: https://fs.blog/2018/12/spacing-effect/

Still looking for a non-Google custom search engine. I want to be able to give it around 1000 websites or specific pages and ask it to only search those. I tried Yacy, it wouldn't run on my Mac despite claiming to, and I couldn't even figure out how to get help, so that was an exercise in futility.I do need something that Just Works. Web-based seems maybe easier in that regard, because I'm probably getting a new computer and possibly switching to another OS in the next year or so.

@TheGibson Climate change continues; people continue to purchase single-use plastic and drive cars.Woes in the UK no matter what kind of Brexit we have or don't: continued moves toward neo-feudalism; emboldening of far right and racists; long-term reduction in living standards.I'll probably finish my PhD, and may well have some kind of healthcrap crash. My spouse will likely have some time without work but we'll muddle through.

@mcmoots Figure out why she joined it in the first place, and where else she can get that? The money is usually crap but I think a lot of MLM schemes come with a sort of ready-made community and a bunch of nonsense about "owning your own business" etc which flatters people who are a certain kind of vulnerable.

@Azure Regarding workforce scalability: even, I dunno, paying a weekly unconditional retainer to people on zero-hours contracts would help, I think.

No, YOU just left your backpack with your #bulletjournal in it on the bus. Not sure if I'm more upset about that, or about the friend's external phone battery pack that was in it. It was quite a good one and replacing it may be pretty terrible. #tired#ActuallyADHD

Nice bus driver rang ahead to ask them to hold the bag for me at the end of the route. It isn't where I planned to go this afternoon, but it is where I am going now.

They are leaving my bag on the bus coming this way, so I don't have to go all the way to the end. Bus drivers are some kind of magic.
