I say it frequently, but I do recommend watching both seasons of Andor if you are new to resistance or you need some encouragement. Nemik's manifesto is great, but so are Kino Loy's "one way out" monologue, Maarva's funeral speech, & Mon Mothma's Senate address.And that's just the *words*. Andor does a lot of showing as well as telling.

"democracy" as you're talking about it has always been a way of *removing power from the people*.The only input on this system you get is a vote. And then because they let you vote, you are supposed to accept everything that happens after that because you are only allowed to make change in "the right way".So "democracy" comes to mean "do not resist."

One of the reasons that "incremental change" doesn't work is that—while progress takes a long time—they sure can very efficiently steal from, imprison, & kill a whole bunch of people.Are we going to ask them to do it just a little less every year? Are we going to sit back every time this violence is done & say "they wouldn't want us to intervene. Rapid change hurts marginalized people most. Based on the instance they were on, this was probably a "middle-class" queer white person feeling concerned about their own personal safety.Let me just say as a "middle-class" queer white person, personally I'll take my chances with the resistance. There are no comforts sweeter than solidarity & the hope of a better tomorrow. I'm not sitting around waiting for it to be my turn.In any case, queer people are almost certainly next on the agenda, so I wouldn't have to wait very long.

Patriarchy has to go because so much of the violence these ICE assholes are doing traces back to their feelings of inferiority as men.They don't have successful relationships with women (or anyone). They don't have the skills or social ability to get "good" jobs & keep them. Many can barely even read.They feel inadequate & instead of rejecting the system of oppression, they become its servants in the vain hope of gaining "respect" as "real men". Their rage is almost infinitely exploitable.
