Polish 2024 budget law sparked some controversies as President Duda vetoed it on Christmas Eve.The law projected some 30%+ pay rise to teachers as well as... nearly 3 billion PLN for public media. It must be noted here that during PiS' reign, Polish state media had been generously funded from state budget, through so-called "compensations for uncollected licence fees". First such compensation - 2 billion PLN - was given in 2020. It is likely the money were spent mostly on PiS' #propaganda, although this must be audited.Now, Civic Coalition promised not to give money on TVP in its previous form (= #TVPiS), which some voters took as a promise not to fund them this way at all...

Oh, and by the way, there's another reaction to President's veto on budget law.To recap, the original bill included an option - rather than a must - to allocate 3bn PLN to public media.Mr Duda vetoed that, and proposed his own version, which was all the same, with media verse removed. (That's what sparked the #liquidation.)Now, Donald Tusk proposes yet another version of the budget, with those 3bn 🤑 be spent on children's oncology!Who will win? We won't know until Jan 10...

I'm more & more inclined to think that the current battle for TVP and other Polish public media would eventually end up in court.PiS politicians and controlled bodies keep claiming it's all illegal.On the other side, we have the occupation of some important buildings, which blocks progress on changes, e.g. resumption of most news pgms on TVP.Both parties (PiS and KO) are just throwing accusations against each other.#TVPIS #liquidation

A number of previous workers of #TVPiS disInfo online services are being suspended, likely to become fired.This includes Radosław Poszwiński, who wrote "Jews are responsible for Holocaust because they did nothing to stop it" from a private Twitter account; Rafał Jarząbek, who asked Donald Tusk questions mimicking PiS #propaganda as a "casual citizen" rather than a media worker, and a man who let two far-right invaders in just after Marek Czyż recorded a statement on a new news px to come.

Polish Television in #Liquidation is set to reactivate its news channel - TVP Info, without a name change.According to reports, the channel would resume broadcasting tomorrow (Dec 29) evening - at least in a reduced form.Rather than politicians, the channel is said to be dominated by experts - at least initially.

Wirtualnemedia.pl notes, the new management is very determined to "give viewers the news back" to TVP.60 people from previous incarnation of the state broadcaster were invited to an inaugural meeting of new TVP Info workers, but in the end it was attended by 150 people.#TVPiS board fired back with their own meeting at the same time. But only a dozen people attended it...

Meanwhile, one of TVP's long-lasting news programmes has returned today.Agrobiznes, the farming news programme, which was famously interrupted by #TVPiS officer Borecki 3 minutes into its Dec 20 (takeover day) edition, was broadcast at 12:12pm today, strangely, recorded & presented from out in a forest o.O"Good day, welcome from an outdoor studio and in field - we hope, temporary - conditions"...

At the same time, TVP's other news programmes, Teleexpress and Panorama, are still yet to return. No date is specified, however.Nor is there any timeline of return of regional broadcasts on TVP3. Some local newsrooms still produced content - either to Facebook or to a drawer.Now they no longer have to, until further notice. They are "exempt from the obligation to work until the return of news services".When they do return, they'll be cut. Editions at 12:30, 14:30 & 16:30 will be cancelled.

Hahahah, what a fire-strike against the previous PiS-appointed management 🤣TVP's liquidator revealed earnings of #TVPiS' chief propagandists over last year, and the station compared them to protests of resident doctors who went on strike over lack of pay rise a few years back.At the time, #TVPiS #propaganda presented them as cash-hungry bastards, increasing their billion-zloty demands day after day, while travelling abroad and eating sandwiches with caviar at the same time 🤡

Nie wiem czy to ja taki głupi, ale żeby dowiedzieć się o przeniesieniu Wydarzeń 24 na MUX-1 i zmianie kanału LCN tej stacji właśnie z Wydarzeń 24, musiałem... przeskanować ponownie kanały, gdyż zmiana już się dokonała :v #dvbt2
