@screwtape @tomjennings on gopher, the tildes have a ~/public_gopher directory per user, much better. On inline images, my approach is to use a subdir link near to one pointing to an article. Cumbersome, but it's 2025, you can multitask fine even from a 386. And I set up lynx and sacc to open PDF's and images with sxiv, mupdf and so on.

@tomjennings @screwtape lynx in the cfg file has settings for external viewers. On sacc I use 'soap' from https://2f30.org set with sxiv -a for images, mupdf for cbz/pdf/epub and mpv for videos.

@tsutsuii It looks better integrated than the flakey 256-512 char Unicode 'support' under KMS for GNU/Linux. And fbterm it's a klunky patch where tmux always gets broken. And getting 256 colours right it's impossible.

@tsutsuii is it like the Linux's framebuffer, or does mlterm set it on top of wscons?

@waltercool UK: Expected, everyone under 30-35 can at least read basic English, it's mandatory in school.Spain: Not weird at all from California to the Patagonia, also the rest of Romances are close enough with tons of cognates (or ancient/poetic synonyms).Italian: mangiareSpanish: comer (but 'manjar' it's a delicatessen).

I want to like #Emacs but #GNUS it's the worst software written ever, dog slow to parse my SLRN caché.If it weren't cached, checking my newsgroup list would last several hours, more than half a day on an Atom Netbook. It deserves to be rewritten, at least the parsing portion. Elisp can't be that slow.

#usenet it's still full of nerds with good geek/tech content away from VC's and shitty companies advertising AI bullshit at "Hacker" news. I can post from anywhere, and I have no bullshit blocks a la HN telling me I can't comment for a while because "I'm posting too fast".

Dear Ludovic Courtes, stop promotting nonfree software, this is like a coup against #GNU:https://gitlab.inria.fr/lcourtes/guix-hpc-non-freeAnd I use #openbsd at home, but as a future preparation for the future #HyperbolaBSD so I cant test my hardware against. Still, my OpenBSD setup it's 99% free minus some base quirks. I use no non-free firmware in my N270 Atom CPU based netbook.

@ramin_hal9001 @mauro Now I remember RMS had an open Emacs session in the TTY (Trisquel's KMS framebuffer actually) and he didn't care so much.I see Emacs as a tool to give freedoms to Unix before security. Altough I see GNU/Linux as 'handicapped' as a platform. True freedom for the users comes from Hurd, were the user can do tons of now-root-restricted-hacks tasks without issues. Mounting devices, internet connections a la FUSE...

I wish #guix had something like M-x customize for Emacs for the config.scm file, at least for services.

@Richard @threalist @Autumn @chromeratt you could say the same on chess with similar reasons. An experienced player would look the chess gameplay in a very different perspective.
