An abandoned farm in east Tennessee (February 2012). Shot on a Bronica SQ using Arista EDU 100 film. #Fensterfreitag #BelieveInFilm

I've lived in 3 houses over a span of roughly 20 years (not counting rentals), and I've planted trees at each one. It's likely this is the last home I'll buy, and I've planted the most here - around 10 so far. I may add a few more next year. It makes me a little sad to think that I won't live long enough to see them fully mature. But I'll enjoy and benefit from their presence all my days. They say the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago; the next best time is today. #trees 🌲 🌳

@tomw My understanding was that you can set up a totally free site, and you don't have to monetize if you don't want to.In that respect, it doesn't seem all too different from Blogspot. But maybe things have changed recently.

@tomw I think I created an account but haven't used it yet for anything, so I can't say how hard they push on upselling the paid model. Obviously they want as many users as possible to monetize because that's how they turn a profit (and subsidize the free accounts). But the paywall is still up to the discretion of the account holder, isn't it? With the steep decline in journalism as a viable profession, I can't fault a writer for wanting to make a living.

@tomw I'm highly sympathetic to the idea that information wants to be free. I hate running into pay walls. But the practical side is somebody has to pay for the work involved in producing professional quality journalism, just like someone writing a well-researched book that took years to create needs to eat.I don't claim to know the solution, but it's a real dilemma in this day and age.

@grammargirl I'm not a fan of video, especially when it comes to podcasts. I'm usually listening to them while on my treadmill, driving or doing yard work - places where video is a pointless distraction. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

@khoji I chose the third option because "Images only" wasn't available.

Several years ago I bought a cheap Disney Princess 35mm camera to give to my young niece. The film advance wheel was hard to turn, so I got her a better camera after shooting a test roll. This is one photo from that test roll that I really liked (January 2016). #BelieveInFilm #MonochromeMonday

Somewhere in the Smokies. I can't recall the exact location, but I do vaguely recall scrambling over boulders to get this shot (October 2011). Taken with my old Bronica SQ. #WaterfallWednesday #BelieveInFilm #tennessee

@lowqualityfacts I wish you were only joking. That's so close to what actually happened. This man must be kept out of the White House at all costs.

@grammargirl I've noticed that trend, too, and it's needlessly confusing.Reminds me of an old Simpson's episode where Bart is given a book on knife safety, titled "Don't Do What Donny Don't Does."

A rural scene in East Tennessee, along Rutledge Pike (November 2017). Taken with an Olympus Stylus Epic Deluxe that I bought for $15 and later resold for a ridiculous sum, on Velvia 50 slide film. #ThrowbackThursday #BelieveInFilm

@catnip @Jaycee I generally use tags for photo locations, or include the info in the post itself. A lot of photographers seem to consider that unimportant or want to keep it secret for whatever reason. I’m pretty much obsessed with documenting details.

Lower section of Laurel Falls in the Smokies (February 2013). It's a very popular attraction, but I was able to have the place to myself by visiting early on a cold and rainy winter morning. #WaterfallWednesday #BelieveInFilm #NikonN75
