@martin How did you make it? This is, how did you train yourself to write "necessary" correctly?

@wizzwizz4 @drisc If I want to efficiently use the processor by using a language that does match the CPU architecture, what language should I use?

@wizzwizz4 @drisc I would like to try them. Are those low-level?

@wizzwizz4 @drisc "Them" = lisp and rust, the languages you described, but now you mentioned OpenMP, which adds to the list of things to learn.

@wolf480pl Why can't you know ahead of time? What happens if you try bonding both interfaces (the vlan and the non-vlan) into an eth-wan interface?

@wolf480pl Interesring case. Bridging sounds even better, as long as the interfaces can be bridged. I don't consider it to be a hack, though: it's analogous to having a physical switch and multiple cables connected. Norhing wring wirh that. A less-hackish alternative might be to have policies turned up automatically: sort of "post-up /path/to/setpolicies-eth-usb0.sh" or something...

@sirikon @strypey I am of the idea that if it's too expensive to be run by the devs, it should be removed from the Website or optimized on the server instead of making the users pay for it. For example, JS execution: devs don't care if a JS file is heavy to be run because they don't execute it; users do. If the devs did, it would have to run 10000x (1x per access) on the server so they would actually care for performance. JS should be executed on the server.

@sir Reminder of the importance of saying the real thing and avoiding sarcasm, irony, jokes, etc. unless we have the full context and trust with the other person. This one is funny, though.

We should have a law requiring all rechargable batteries in devices to be user replaceable; otherwise we are just building devices made to be thrown away while they perfectly work. Preferably, replacing them should not require any tools (otherwise they could require strange tools but call it "user replaceable").

@darrenpmeyer "What is this, 1995?" and "Let's go back 5 years" -- common phrases to ridicule what is not modern without wanting to having an actual discussion... and people buy them!

@wolf480pl The perfectionist in me would go with optimizing but my pragmatic self instead asks what would be more expensive, the optimization or the generated global waste after not doing it? Also, what is the likelihood of having that section reworked later? For an experienced programmer, making the optimization should be way cheaper than for an inexperienced one.

@wolf480pl I remember implementing a latch-like circuit using flip-flops because I didn't know how to use a latch, but disliking having to add an otherwise useless high-frequency clock. But if you already have a clock, why is a latch? I think it will all depend on the use case.

@wolf480pl Maybe if you can't rely on that clock or if you have multiple clocks, or maybe if the input is external and can't be guaranteed to be held until the next clock edge so you may need to latch it. That's why I don't think it's latches vs flip-flops, just use what you need to use.
