this sounds kinda narcissistic, but it was definitely helpful and informative (in particular the demo)

I'm actually confused on how the demo works, so I took a look at the code (https://git.exozy.me/a/gitea/commit/67c02096c5f4eabfc10b77d2f5427a7677dc569c) and the commit message couldn't be more fitting. The code is absolutely atrocious and probably inefficient, but somehow it just magically works.

Wait, I just discovered that stuff under https://abstrusegoose.com/secretarchives is still up!!! for instance, https://abstrusegoose.com/secretarchives/monkeyalso, this is probably a long shot, but I'm trying to find my favorite abstruse goose comic on archive.org which I remember mentions Genghis Khan and becoming a lawyer, but I don't remember the number or the title so I might just have to look through all of them... does anyone happen to know which one I'm talking about?

I tried searching for it using multiple search engines but all I got was stuff about Genghis Khan having a lot of descendants. Sadly, there's no explainxkcd.com equivalent that I can easily search in.

I found it! First, I tried https://github.com/hartator/wayback-machine-downloader but it was super slow and getting rate-limited.But I managed to find the PNG for the comic by searching on https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://abstrusegoose.com* for various words related to the comic, since the PNG files all have very descriptive names like "no_cats_were_harmed_during_the_2018_ImageNet_Challenge_my_robot_however_is_going_to_need_years_of_therapy.png"

To find the actual number of the comic, I saw that wayback_machine_downloader was able to download most of the HTML files but not the images, so I grepped through those for mentions of the image name. And here it is: https://web.archive.org/web/20230326160247/https://abstrusegoose.com/606

The paru 2.0 release a few weeks ago made paru -occ do what paru -cc did before, and my muscle memory has still not adapted to the change. I could make an alias, but it's not a command that I run all the time anyways.

Interestingly, btrfs can support filenames up to 1023 bytes instead of 255, but this requires a patched kernel.https://old.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/zlvolo/japanese_filenames_and_the_255_character_limit/j0demqt/

I originally thought I would have plenty of time this month to work on federation, but unfortunately since I'm a busy college student, life just gets in the way. I don't expect to have time for contributing code to forge federation in the future sadly, but I'm definitely excited by all the great work that Earl Warren and @jerger have done in the past year. I'm confident that someday Forgejo will be federated!

Today I discovered that the KDE Plasma 6's shake to find mouse pointer feature will grow the pointer arbitrarily large if you keep on shaking, but sadly I haven't been able to blow up my pointer to fill the entire screen since my hand hurts too much now from all that shaking

I did it, kinda. Next challenge is to make the entire screen nothing but the black of the mouse pointer.
