Returning to fakk2, it has some functions that GPL release of Quake III doesn't have, but older versions do.I also wish there was larger reverse engineering community around these games, not just developing cheats for Call of Duty but actually preserving these old games. And that's more doable, again because there is GPL releases of most id engines that were licensed to third-party studios.

@eukara yeah, it's impossible to argue with that. It's their property.but at the same time, that's still 25 year old game. They could've opensourced it long ago, around the time they stopped encrypting DLLs and providing VAC blobs.

@Theuaredead I would like to not talk about them too much, because again few their employees follow me here and who knows what if they came vengeful after my project next? But remember when they declined CSGO mods from releasing on Steam by literally ghosting them? And what they did to few TF2 mods few years before putting TF2 source code under restrictive SDK license?I don't really care about CS or TF, I don't play these games but for something I and community overall are too passionate about... Now that I feel less shocked by the news... only real disappointment left.Maybe the only thing community deserve for being loyal to them is carefully crafted leaks "oopsie woopsie we mentioned HLX/Deckard/etc in some barely related project"
