Did you check your mail today?I'm sure you didn't because there haven't been many calls coming in on BC-BOX BBS #RC2014BBS (the world's first and - currently - only bulletin board system #BBS running on a #RC2014 )Better fire up your #Telnet terminal client (#Syncterm, #Qodem or even #Qterm if you are using CP/M #CPM) and connect to:rc2014.ddns.net on TCP port: 2014so you won't be missing any news!

As you may have noticed, I'm currently looking for a #Forth compiler that will run on * CP/M * on my #Rc2014 F83.COM is great but does seem to have issues with writing screens to the .BLK files.#figFORTH is also nice, especially since there's a new, re-worked version for CP/M available. But it's rather old-fashioned.Then there's #volksFORTH which is pre FORTH-94 standard but still a very powerful system. I took the time to customize and save my own system, fixing the STARTUP.FB screen file along the way as it was suffering from formatting issues. So the screenie below shows the final result: volksFORTH running on CP/M using the internal editor and displaying the startup file that was used to build the system.

Took a day off today and enjoyed some #RetroComputing. So, yesterday we had #MayThe4th and today I'll celebrate #My4th - the #cpuless #Homebrew #8Bit #Forth computer kit.Took me about an hour to get it done but not without the obligatory bodge wire (*aaargh*)See, I applied too much heat to pin 8 of the oscillator, so I lost the solder pad and eventually had to use a bodge wire to deliver the CLK signal to the source decoder IC. I consider this a "personal touch" of my own. Meh! .oO(I really need to get a better soldering iron with adjustable temperature). So right now I'm running the machine at 10 MHz giving me a whooping 4800 baud on the serial line, as you can see in the screenshot of the startup message. So let's do some real #Forth coding on a dedicated #Forth machine - a dream to come true aver since I learned about the (very rare) #JupiterAce in the mid-1980s.#Weekend

@itnewsbot well, ContikiOS and its webserver for the C64 been there since 2004, also people have been running it for a long time, see this post from 2011:https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/ewwu6/this_is_actually_a_web_server_running_on_an/so I won't consider this "news" by any means.

@cthulhu @Tho99 @cstross from what I learned, this was one the more common types of CP/M hardware used in north-america. the TRS80 and CP/M being another popluar one. Or so I have been told.
