The feeling I'm enjoying right now as a newbie on Mastodon reminds me of the first time I went to the Tattered Cover Book Store in Denver. (I grew up in the Denver area.) I must have been twelve. I wandered the stacks and gawked at what seemed like millions of books. I was amazed by TC's size, and how vast its selection of books was. It was like being in a nerd-candy store. That's how I feel now.

I love the idea that Mastadon is a user-supported service, staffed by volunteers and funded by donations. I bought @trumpet a donut because (a) this is a great platform, and (b) who doesn't like donuts?

Having an early dinner tonight so we can go see the Orlando #Philharmonic perform at Steinmetz Hall this evening. Tonight's bill is "Majestic #Bruckner / #Dvořák Grandeur." I didn't grow up with #ClassicalMusic but I am trying to learn more about it.

Weekends are for batch #cooking. My husband has been craving split pea #soup, so I’m using two frozen chicken carcasses, celery root, celery stalks, and two bunches of spring onions to make a very oniony chicken stock. I’ll cook the soup tomorrow.

So this is probably the third time I've been to an #Orlando #Philharmonic performance of #Dvořák and I'd say he's my favorite #symphonic #composer so far. More so than the classical-era composers. Not sure I can articulate why. (I'm a classical music newbie!)

I picked mas.to as my server in part because it wasn't specific in its focus (my interests are eclectic) and its rules were pretty straightforward, e.g. it doesn't require CWs for photos where the subject gives eye contact to the camera.
