What it feels like to me looking forward to #gaming in the current year. On the bright side, I'm buying a lot more #indiegames and having fun with them because they don't pull this kind of BS on me and just work.

@the_white_wolf I outright hard boycott Denuvo after how much shit it gave me with MGSV, and how many bad PC ports with technical problems use it. As for the Rog ally, you do you, but I'm staying far away from ASUS after how badly they've been handling their motherboard division lately."I believe I have six or seven indies in my library and the rest are AA and AAA"Man that's rough. I don't even know how people can put up with the microtransaction abuse, broken launches and constant scandals.

@the_white_wolf @mforester If you're expecting me to give you any actual shit for having preferences, I'm not that kind of guy. I will say however that people should raise their standards a bit and say no to certain things so that they have more freedom in the long run.As for what happened with MGSV, Denuvo wouldn't let me play it in college because I didn't have access to an internet connection very often. It also caused stutters in the game, as it has been doing with games to this day.

@the_white_wolf Because, when people crack the denuvo games, they run better. Consistently too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXZGCwAJpbM Stutter is also a common issue among many games that use it.Not all PC ports with issues have Denuvo, but many modern PC ports that have issues also have Denuvo. Also, remember Darkspore? That game is no longer playable unless cracked because of Denuvo DRM. Performance issues are not the only reason to avoid games with Denuvo DRM. If it's in a game I won't buy it. Simple as.

Blows my fucking mind that even in relatively recent modern times, like you don't even have to reach as far back as George Orwell, science fiction/horror/dystopia authors will be like "Oh, that? I didn't think as much as people think I did about it, just wrote The Most Horrifying Thing I Can Think Of™ and ended up with that" Then, as if some spiteful chaos god overheard them, time decides to make it happen for real in some capacity, in a metaphorical or straight up literal way.

@darth @greyknight33 I heard from people who play it that VKD3D_CONFIG=force_host_cached in launch options fixes crashing for some on linux, but don't quote me on it, I don't have starfield and don't plan to buy it for a long time.

This sucks so much. I kept telling numerous people " #discord is NOT a forum, it is an IRC app, stop building your communities in it around stuff that needs to be found with a search engine and archived, it's a bad idea for numerous reasons including the overpopulation of server topics in an app that has a 100 server limit" but nobody listened. I hate being right. We're about to have yet ANOTHER internet library of alexandria situation assuming this shit retroactively applies to existing stuff.

@BrodieOnLinux -Whether having a native linux port of a game actually matters all that much if it runs flawlessly in proton.-What a "good first time linux user distro" really entails.-"I still need X11 because XYZ reasons" where it would be put to rest because the Wayland devs simply fixed these use cases and there would be no serious reason left to use Xorg except stubbornness due to Wayland having all the features one would need from Xorg.-"Why do you need to do that?" - GNOME devs

@BrodieOnLinux Childhood me would be inconsolable if I told him that we got a functional IRL Pokédex and it turned out to be janky and underwhelming.Hell, adult me is pretty depressed to see it.

@BrodieOnLinux I wish that ads would be fundamentally fixed before they're forced upon us.I actually like finding out about shit relevant to my interests, but I'd like to straight up tell youtube "give me ads on this topic and show them to me X number of times before moving onto the next" instead of them trying to underhandedly data harvest me to find this information out. Also, the repetition sucks. 3-5 times for 1 15 second ad is fair, anything beyond that is psychological torture.

The amount of shit across various websites, ESPECIALLY in relation to current IRL events, you have to click "not interested" on to get it to fuck off is insanely frustrating.I remember when stuff actually worked, there was never a point in internet history where I have had to do this so much than in the last 5 or so years.

Tonight, as I was perusing through steam next fest demos, I came to the realization that Kane Pixels and Evan Royalty ruined horror for me completely, because I know what I want out of horror now is "Professionals encounter, combat, or study weird ass thing that should not exist like it's a 9 to 5 job". But that subgenre is so rare, and while it SHOULD translate well to a video game it mostly hasn't outside of stuff like GTFO and Phasmophobia.I literally just want Ready or Not meets MonHun.

Glad I never bought anything on epic games, went to go claim a game and hcapatcha won't let me log in even though I was getting the questions right. Tried changing my password via email, wanted a non functional hcaptcha for that too, effectively meaning I can't log into my EGS account. If I had purchased anything from EGS, this would be a catastrophe on the level of losing the ability to log into steam or GOG, but I knew from the start Epic Games Store was a piece of shit, so I'm chillin.

Sometimes I think about the hypothetical deliveryman who gave Eddie the pizza in #silenthill2 and this is the image that comes to mind because they absolutely don't get paid enough for their job yet did it anyway. It had to have been a person who did it, because to imply otherwise is even sillier, because you're saying the town has pizzamancy in its tool belt just to fuck with Eddie's trauma.

Just watched The Fall GuyGenuinely, the movie caters heavily to my sensibilities. I love good stunt work, I love good action, and I love a cheesy wholesome adventure, never expected any of that to go together as nicely as this did since most of the action movies I'm used to watching are miserable (non-derogatory)

"You don't understand, we had to put MGS3 in Unreal Engine 5, doing that then not optimizing it was the intended experience so you can get nostalgia to how MGS4 ran on native PS3 hardware"

God, I wish #Linux Mint had a KDE Spin. A family member expressed interest in Linux recently and I tried it out first so I could tutorialize them but there's so many things in Cinnamon that are just not intuitive compared to KDE, one of the things I missed the most is the whole "If I drag and drop something, it asks me if I want to move it, copy it, or symbolic link it".And hey, not every DE has to be like KDE right? But KDE being "like windows" (by default) is useful for newcomers.
