@chidgey @adam But being totally serious for a minute, you actually *could* implement a GUI/app that is just a picture of a big slot machine, and you click it's lever, and it does an animation like a slot machine, and then lands on some random 1 minute clip of some random podcast episode and plays it. It's a perfectly legit concept I'd try, and it seems like it could be addicting.I'm an idea guy. It's just what I do. Adam are you writing this all down?Adding dave....@dave

@adam @chidgey @dave WOW. That's cool. I was interested right away in the discussion going on on castcoverage.I was just 'riffing' off the 'roulette' concept from @chidgey, yeah it's a great concept.Thx Adam, I'm bookmarking that!

@metalune I think Quanta (https://quanta.wiki) may be a similar tool. I'm the founder/developer.In Quanta everything is always hierarchical and markdown. Every node can contain other sub-nodes.

@metalune I've had something like Quanta under development ever since XML was first invented (i.e. for decades).I always thought the world needed "Hierarchical Text Editors" and so I've always had one of my own, for all my own notes, because other than mine they basically didn't (and still don't) really exist. Quanta just happens to be the latest incarnation.

@AdamAtSea @ITM @adam So Adam is not only responsible for the enclosure tag but also the "Explicit" designation! That's Fu****g awesome! My approach is to just use what I call the "asteriskized text format", as you've just all seen...but I still hope my mother doesn't see this.

@mike I wouldn't run any deletes until all zipping is done. I'd run the "rm" loop separately and after the gzip. :)

@chidgey All conversation threads *are* tree structures, because you're always replying to something, which is a child "Node"... ergo I say "Node" is the best word. However like the word "Kleenex" became synonymous with any tissue, I think the world should just hijack the word "Tweet" for all platforms and I'm happy with that too.The word "Toot" however is stupid and silly and I may stop using it...

@chidgey It probably supports 2 3Ks at 60Hz too?, but you're right, not supporting 3 total external monitors would be a deal breaker for me too.

@Genen @darrenoneill My amateur tips: I'm using OBS and the Audio Mixer filters "Compressor" and "Noise Suppressor" help a lot. Other than that be sure you aren't in a room with many flat hard surfaces.Best way is to hang blankets all over the place, or even fill the room with tons of cardboard boxes, etc. Or go pro and get actual dampening to put on the walls.Your signal does have slight "small room and flat surfaces" effect to my ears, but no buzz or hum.

@Genen @darrenoneill Even big flattened boxes leaned against the wall at an angle to stop or deflect waves towards ceiling can do it.Getting rid of standing waves is even more effective than an expensive mic I'd bet. Am I right @adam ?

@darrenoneill @Genen @adam Also Dave Rubin is kinda bad. I heard the reverb and then looked and noticed a perfectly flat wall like 6 feet behind him in his studio. I think some people just aren't aware, or can't hear it somehow.I didn't know how good audio could sound until I hung tons of sheets and blankets, cardboard boxes, etc in my tiny home office. Difference is night-and-day. I plan on covering my walls with acoustic panels soon, just for video-conferencing quality.

@Genen @darrenoneill @lizzymoda @adam I'm not an audio engineer, but I know before I filled my office with hanging blankets, boxes, and got rid if EVERY flat surface I had those "overtone" issues. There's no fixed frequency (not even the standing wave frequency) that is detectable because the sound is bouncing too randomly.Fill your room with clutter and lots of soft sheets and stuff, and record again and you'll be SHOCKED. Recordings will *then* sound like a person and not a recording.

@Genen @darrenoneill @lizzymoda @adam By "detectable" I meant detectable in a spectrum analyzer. But that overtone is something you start noticing everywhere once you learn how to get rid of it. If your recording doesn't sound like someone sitting next to you talking then you know it's got overtone issues. It should sound just like a person sitting beside you EVEN with a cheap mic, if your room is echo deadened properly.

@darrenoneill @Genen @lizzymoda @adam There's no substitute for just starting out with a clean signal. Unless you've actually done it, by filling room with hanging blankets, and cardboard boxes like I did, it would be like explaining the color 'red' to a colorblind person. People are so used to hearing horrible audio recordings they don't even realize how good a recording sounds in a good studio. But enough blankets is as good as a million dollar studio.

@agates @dave I bet you guys both predicted I'd chime in to ask if you thought about IPFS PubSub or not?I really need to learn it myself! I haven't done it before, ...but i'm a fan of having no single point of failure or any way for someone to shut down everybody else, or decided to start requiring some Satoshis and do a little "gate keeping"

@agates @dave My only fear about IPFS PubSub is that last I checked it was labeled "experimental" (read: "might disappear") so....there is that.

@chidgey IMO it's the psychology of most Apple users that they'd rather pay for something than get it for free.Apple customers just enjoy consuming and paying for stuff. They'll get more enjoyment out of clicking the "Buy" button than they do from the entire podcast.

@chidgey @dave For Elvis impersonations however, nothing works better than standing in a shower and belting out something like Hound Dog, or even some of his Christmas time specials.
