@jens @lanodan to put it in a broader context, GitHub has become an extension of LinkedIn for software engineers around the globe to showcase portfolio projects. That is why Microsoft bought both of them.The companies those people work for often use internally-hosted GitLab, which is virtually identical to using GitHub.Codeberg & Gitea is still (for the moment) used predominantly by people that want to support alternatives. They aren't early adopters, but the user base for both is tiny by comparison.So that is what I meant by people refusing or not being able to use other tools. Often when people learn Git, they're learning GitHub at the same time because they may end up using browser-based branching/merging, adding their SSH keys to their account settings, or setting up a website on GitHub Pages, to name a few examples.It's a tough problem to crack for that reason, but not an insurmountable one imho. 🙂

@jens @lanodan also as an aside, any alternative to GitHub also needs good moderation tools imho.It's frustrating how often they're an afterthought, but trolls are much more creative than they used to be.

@lanodan @jens the reason I put Glimpse in an "Organization" was so that I could block accounts younger than six months old from interacting with the repo.While it was an annoying barrier to entry that it forced non-techies to ask for help via email or social media instead of using a browser-based interface, it did kill our ongoing sock puppet account and spam problems immediately.It wasn't a magic bullet though, as we still had to suspend all interactions for fixed time periods whenever someone released a YouTube video that was essentially calling us Marxist assholes.

@stux @freakazoid different European countries have different energy situations.eg. In the UK we have a regulated price cap and the government helping lower income households with bills.It's still a pretty dire situation though. The US is cushioned from all this because of their relentless pursuit of energy independence.

@libreoffice I voted for the flat ones. Partly because I'm a slave to trends, but also because the gradients icons may not look the same across all systems, packaging types, monitor resolutions or colour spaces.Excellent work from the design team though. I always thought it was bizarre that the project's logo was a blank sheet of paper 😂
