       @kairyssdal at the risk of arguing with a smarter guy -- that's only part true, right? The debt limit forces a partial shutdown (which has happened during previous debt limit showdowns) because you have reduced funding for ongoing operations and end up closing some down to prolong the time before that financial meltdown. I mean, Kirk is an ass regardless but the shorthand here, if they just omitted the word "partial," seems forgivable.

       @kairyssdal would very very much like to see an April Fool's NPR/PRI parody where Terry Gross and others are screaming for somebody to get fired for failing to cover up, like, a critic's poll in which Jonathan Safran Foer got totally slammed.

       @kairyssdal yeah but the same polling shows people are much better clued in than they were in 2011 so, take the win. Maybe make an unfounded extrapolation that we are getting smarter?

       @kairyssdal if they were threatening him with some kind of legal sanction I would agree wholeheartedly but this letter could have come from two random listeners too. There might be an implied threat, maybe? But it isn't really clear beyond I suppose a threat to use their pulpits to denounce the guy, which, sure.
