The entire point of Rick Scott's idea was so he could get rid of Social Security and Medicare. They all know it, and they are all pretending that they all haven't voted in the past to gut these critical government programs.I am so sick and tired of bad faith arguments and bad faith legislation. The worst line is "we won't cut current benefits" which is another way of saying that Republicans expect future retirees to pay for current retirees and get less out of it for themselves. Scott is the guy whose company had to pay what was then the biggest health care fraud settlement in US history, $1.7 billion for bilking the #Medicare system. Then, the same guy has the astonishing chutzpah to suggest that Medicare, the program he himself looted, should be placed in jeopardy and possibly filibustered to death, yanking healthcare away from literally millions of seniors.People who lounge on yachts in Italy don't have to worry about paying their medical bills. @stopgopfox So accurate it hurts. Now we have lots of accounts here doing the same- looking for an easy hit on social media and they’re in my mentions quite a bit now.I was fortunate to have a few good people correct me when I was susceptible in the past. And I was. Some of them are here still. Hopefully people in general catch on that there’s a difference between expecting and really demanding the best from our electeds and toxic, hopeless, unbeneficial junk. Thanks for the comment. @GreenFire @stopgopfox I’m open to any and all suggestions. Talking to them here just makes everyone waste time. Blocking and muting seems to create stalkers and harassment.Talking to people in real life is of course not at all like that which is where I spend the vast majority of my activism time, anyway now. My one suggestion is definitely that people vet their followers and who they’re amplifying a bit better. More isn’t always good.

A five year sunset on all legislation (even if a few programs are exempted and who believes them) is a foolish and irresponsible idea. It means uncertainty about whether any legislation or policy would continue—this will produce economic chaos. It also requires Congress to reconsider the entire federal government every five years. That's a project which Congress is unlikely to be able to complete in time—and that will lead to political chaos. Of course Republicans want that.This is a proposal for undermining our democracy. That kind of nihilism seems to be the only goal of the Republican Party today.
