@h4890 @ChrisMayLA6 As for freedom, the freedoms I had in America where not the ones I wanted: to own a gun, to die in the street if I ran out of money, to emit hate speech.Here I have the right to privacy. I have a social safety net.I moved back to Europe for a better life, and I got it. I can't imagine ever returning to the United States, with all those miserable, angry, and unhealthy people.

I am absolutely certain that both my friends who died would support me entirely on this matter.I really don't appreciate being told that "dying in the street can be OK", I detest the idea that a society that takes care of its weakest members is a slave state, in exactly the same way that I don't appreciate the unsolicited personal insults and lack of reasoning from you.

@futurebird Interesting question which I am not sure I gave an accurate answer to!At the company I work at, I am not aware of any AWS servers, and there are a couple of cloud providers who don't appear to be them, but we do consulting, other groups could be doing all sorts of things.I do like the company, Quansight, because all the work is on free, open-source software. So even though my work is paid for by big evil companies, the results are free for all to use.

I came close when they apologized and appointed a Public Editor, but a couple of years later they closed that job down.But all is not lost. @futurebird I didn't know you did math education! That's something I do too, but only for fun these days.Somehow an ant got into the bedroom and kept crawling on me a couple of nights ago. I eventually turned the light on to see what it was, agonized a bit, but did terminate its little life, because brushing it off repeatedly hadn't worked and I didn't want to wake my wife.I felt bad, still do.
