@Mirai @comrade_lecter I don't deny that they can have sexual feelings, I am just incredibly wary about adult-child sexual relationships and the effects it can have on the child's future perception of relationships in general. A romantic relationship can be beneficial to both parties, but a purely sexual relationship can be very harmful and puts the child at risk of exploitation.

@elea396 @cummies I never denied that children have sexual desires, my problem is their long term mental health and the unconscious and conscious effects that mostly sexual adult-child relationships can have.

@Lily @comrade_lecter @Mirai The vast majority of people are not aromantic and we shouldn't be indoctrinating children to believe that purely sexual relationships are the mainstream. Children are very impressionable and by having a sexual relationship with them, you are teaching them that sex is what makes them feel good and what relationships revolve around.

@elea396 @cummies The majority do not. Although a large amount do have sexual feelings, most do not actively have lust for specific people until Tanner stage 2.

@elea396 @cummies I relate to that on a personal level, but I also acknowledge that unless society were to drastically change their opinions and actions regarding child sexual activity, it would be highly likely that an adult would take advantage of the child.

@Spaghettimon When I say mental capacity, I'm referring to their ability to be able to understand sexual relationships. The majority of young people do not actively lust for such an experience until they hit puberty. Unless they seek it out themselves, they are being taken advantage of, in my view.

@Spaghettimon That's their own personal exploration. For a grown adult to take advantage of that, is completely immoral and is likely to cause the young person harm. I do not deny that some young people have the understanding and ability to consent, but to say the majority do is completely dishonest and puts vulnerable young people at risk.
