You need physical access to the device.B. If the devices' encryption software is updated, the vulnerability no longer exists.Monero creates a hive of extremely valuable data if/when it gets cracked.

@PhenomX6 @heyarnold @TheQuQu Of course going down for a bit will always reduce the heat level, but I think Josh refused to intentionally take the site down due to what happened with 8chan.When 8chan was off the clearnet (not even down, you just needed Tor!) for 3 months, the site lost most of its userbase. In Josh's words, it is now "a shell of its former self."

@heyarnold @PhenomX6 @TheQuQu Yep, if there's anything that the KiwiFarms did right, it's that it kept its community.User activity may have decreased, but it still feels the same. Even when the site was down, the users were interacting with each other on various fediverse instances (unfortunately mostly poast).When the site was Tor-only, there were still many users on the site. In contrast, 8chan had no community outside of their main site, to the point where I'm guessing that the vast majority of their users weren't aware that there was an onion service (let alone what Tor is or how to use it).

@kier @PhenomX6 @TheQuQu @heyarnold Yes, as the "Read or Die" message says "we are a strong and cohesive community."I think limiting registrations (based on time) also helps, when someone does create an account, they're more likely to stay; they'll understand the community and its culture.

@AnarkioCrypto Not so sure about this idea of decentralized funding of Tor nodes, it also risks turning running Tor nodes into a money making opportunity. It's cheapest to put a relay on Hetzner, but also REALLY bad for the network (Hetzner controls far too much of the Tor relays). But this decentralized system would risk that kind of behavior.
