@TheMadPirate My impression is that the Arab Spring was a lot more organic in the start, and was also driven by high food prices.Of course globohomo took advantage of it, and Obama had big and contributory ambitions for the Middle East, both to rehabilitate the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood, which Egypt rejected in due course, and to mend relations with Shia Iran.

Two weeks, three states go “Constitutional Carry,” soon you won’t need no stinking license to carry concealed in Alabama (1/1/23), Ohio, and now Indiana (both this summer). That brings the total to 24 states: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_carryAnyone want to bet the 2020 BLM summer of love and what’s continued has some connection to this? For non-Americans, we have 50 total states, and of course our modern slave states are moving in the opposite direction. Don’t pay much attention to them now, but I noticed Washington state is banning magazines > 10 rounds. It’s biggest city of Seattle is getting so dangerous Amazon which is headquartered there is moving workers out of it.

@verita84 @admin Note, on Firefox now I”m getting “Error fetching timeline: 500 Internal Server Error” red box errors, but again this does not seem to have much to do with what I can see and do which remains the same except for not being able to see my Home timeline. except for some number of minutes last night.

@verita84 No need to answer this unless you made a mistake in the above reply. It would appear @admin chose well, in that you’re trying an old copy of the db data to see if that works on the new machine.Don’t understand how a db import working is a worse case, as opposed to a pre-production including load proof of concept.

@admin No state is even close to going full Fort Sumter, but some are trying a second, stronger, or really something more than just political posturing themselves as RKBA sanctuaries. The first set claimed to for example nullify the NFA, but none of the states lifted a finger to help residents who depending on that when the ATF came knocking. The current set may throw up roadblocks with law officers participating with the Feds on any Federal gun law enforcement. You of course have to read the fine print, for example without a private right of action to sue they’re toothless, local prosecutors aren’t going to charge the local cops who are part of the local political-judicial complex.

@koba_ape_leader That sounds like pure political posturing. The Blue Wall of Silence, the special relationships between cops, prosecutors and judges etc. all depend on the cops actually being cops, not having a label slapped on them by the legislature claiming they are.See neighboring Kentucky where the grand jury wasn’t allowed to act as one on the murder of Breonna Taylor, and the single officer entangled was charged with endangering neighbors, for which he was just found innocent.Back to Tennessee, as a for instance, if we’re just sticking to the plain letter of Supreme Court case law there’s no difference between cops and citizens stopping an active shooter or any other thing like that where the perp is threatening lives of great bodily harm.

@furgar A completely bullshit take, because those things in theory secure a lot more than fiat. Like the people of a nation (I know, I know, in theory, and even then it could be much worse).First picture, a US carrier task force. There’s a tremendous advantage to keeping the sea lanes open.I’m also not at the moment seeing the connection between America’s post-Cold War imperialism and it strictly being about maintaining the value of the fiat US$. There’s for example a particular country, sometimes more than one that’s handsomely benefited from it all.

India for example declared they’d won against COVID before their first wave, then had little choice after previous lockdown excesses except to let it rip through the entire population. How much of sub-Saharan Africa do you think got vaccinated? The PRC with the same types of vaccines the West used? Any other place with an age pyramid that looks like a pyramid (that is, mostly young)? You think the earth will be “clean and green” when blacks, browns, and yellow inherit it?

Coli (K-12 strain which is not normally pathogenic), yeah, I believe in the germ theory of disease. When did you stop taking antibiotics after getting a diagnosis of a bacterial infection. And your thesis still fails hare because you’re claiming nearly the entire world, including many regimens in opposition with each other, decided to kill off 90% of the population.Making their ruling trash poor in some of the worst ways like medicines for non-germ caused diseases, and more vulnerable, or in the case of imperialists like the PRC and USA, unable to prosecute their ambitions. For that matter, in what was does imperialism make sense in a world with 10% of its former population?

@harbeau Well, they’d better stay in their lane or they’ll find out men are the world’s apex predators. I would imagine a lot of new found interest in big bore guns normally used in Africa against the biggest, most dangerous animals there like Cape buffalo.

Democritus and his teacher as I understand it inferred they exist simply because there were limits to nature splitting up stuff, else everything would turn into matter smaller than the dust they could detect back then.Even with today’s technology, we can only “see” their electrons as clouds, we must continue to infer the nucleus. That said, my lab wasn’t into electron microscopy, and in theory it would have been silly to examine the culture we got from another lab, my lab was just getting into fine structure mapping of E. Coli genes. Unfortunately I was later told it was contaminated with a T family bacteriophage, running the final results. But this combination of viruses acted like viruses are supposed to do. They’re “hacks,” “kludges,” they exist because the can. And are often very sloppy and make mistakes. So in this experiment a culture of E. Coli … and that sort of thing was confirmed spreading a sufficiently diluted culture on the surface of a Petri dish, so that each colony started from one bacteria, the more experienced people in the lab confirmed it looked and smelled like E. Coli. So, the experiment was based on viruses making an accident and carrying one or two genes from one bacterium to another. Then two screens were made, first a broad one requiring the first gene to be transmitted, then a bunch of those were tested one by one to see if the second gene had also been copied. If so, the percentage of those with both out of the starting total would tell you how far the two genes, sequences of DNA coding for a protein, were apart. If you’re demanding “isolation” in the sense you’ve got some viruses and nothing else, ah, here’s a good analogy, can you “isolate” humans without oxygen for very long? Learn some basic physics and chemistry and you’ll realize why that demand of the virus truthers is arrant nonsense. At minimum they’d need to be in a buffer solution. But as implied above, we can for example make electron micrographs of them that make sense, use X-ray diffraction to figure out their inner anatomy, etc.

Very useful in the clinical setting, and in theory useful for setting policy if, in fact, politicians ever paid attention to the data. Which last time I checked, and this is hardly exhaustive, they never did until it was too late. What gets attention is hospitalizations and deaths. And if you claim those weren’t from COVID, you have to explain what they actually were to be so above the baselnes going back for a century.More expensive tests require for example sequencing the whole genome, and ultimately for COVID requiring a BSL-3 lab culturing a sample, does it act like the/a virus is supposed to act? (OK, today maybe BSL-2 is OK with vaccines etc.)

So absent infinite monkeys which they later claim, non-human primates are expensive lab animals, the early work would have to bypass that barrier as does pathogenic polio infections.Page 3 is more of the same or needs more context. Also has the near universal conceit of these science truthers that scientists have no agency, are incapable of learning from initial failuresPage 4 is part bullshit, polio was known back to the ancient Egyptians, and they don’t consider the contribution of public health. Remember, it’s claimed this is a fecal-oral route virus disease….Page 5, these authors have never heard of x-ray crystallography. Search on that preceded with the world polio; read Watson and Crick on figuring out the structure of DNA for why it’s such a powerful tool. At that point they’ve demonstrated sufficient ignorance they can be safely ignored. Especially since:Ultimately this fails hard without doing the same for the host of other viruses we’ve tamed. Was any of this true for smallpox centuries before???Look, to be blunt, to even begin to judge this sort of material you have to gain the knowledge of a term or two’s of college level biology and the minimum supporting physics and chemistry for it. Otherwise it’s all appeals to authority, “there is no royal road to geometry.”

(On the other hand, biology can help with several engineering fields, for “software engineering” by providing all sorts of example of stuff, by getting you to think of processes, etc.)“Why the censorship? Why are so many doctors, and lawyers getting canceled when they had promising careers before?”Ummm, which came first, the regime of canceling and censorship against violators of the Party Line, or COVID?“Why are post vaccine deaths through the roof per DMed and Vaers?”Don’t know about DMed, but that sentence alone says you don’t understand what VAERS is and can tell you.And are you completely unaware of the attention paid to COVID vaccines compared to anything prior until you go back to polio and measles. Or so that’s what I’ve read, polio was the prior fantastic obvious win against a virus, and even then had not a fraction of COVID’s pathogenicity. Measles is more significant for how it wrecks your immune system for a couple of years.Although looking at the Wikipedia timeline the first Ebola vaccine has proven to be just as big a thing, but while it’s a lot more deadly, the numbers have always been relatively small, concentrated, and of course far off in sub-Saharan Africa. From a public health perspective, when in the last big epidemic of it Nigeria prevented it from going past a few handful of imported or contact with those cases we can see it’s a disease of yet another nature than any of the above.

Perhaps you meant virus when you said bacteria, we’ve got lots of those, which make not just surface proteins like the mRNA and adenovirus vector vaccines, but the whole set since they’re the original virus minus the fangs. So the Saban type in the 1960s, a full half of Americans possibly including myself got immunized with it in one huge campaign. Smallpox too, I got a booster before visiting Haiti when in grade school, and we use them against the occasional monkeypox outbreak.Today the vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella (“German measles”), and varicella (chicken pox, shingles), nasal administrated flu vaccine, all attenuated live viruses which the mRNA vaccines are an extremely precise version of.So here your understandable if it wasn’t for Wikipedia ignorance means you’ve got the most foundational facts on vaccines just plain wrong. So, yes, we’re at an impasse. If Dr. Peter McCullough is right, whichever vaccines he’s talking about don’t actually work at all. You’re next paragraph … you aren’t aware the predominate strains of SARS-CoV-2 have changed three times??? And the vaccines are all first generation against classic Wuhan, not Alpha, Delta, and Omicron, yet providing a great deal of protection against those?“natural immunity sucks”That’s not just a lie, but an obvious one absent evidence to the contrary, which I’m completely unaware of. Then again, immunity against classic Wuhan or a later variant isn’t as good against a subsequent variant, just like with the vaccines.“actually vaccine immunity wanes after 4 months”This is a “yes and no.” When you get infected, your adaptive immune system creates a fleet of antibodies. It is obvious from first principles that by the time you exit childhood you’d not have room left in your plasma for red blood cells from all the colds, “stomach flu,” and vaccines you get growing up if those fleets did not wane over time.So the body creates memory B-cells ready to whip up a new fleet of antibodies (and there’s also cellular immunity). The infinity vaccinations crowd thinks we should regularly provoke the immune system to maintain a big anti-COVID fleet of antibodies, which is a very questionable proposition.Anyway, yeah, you have no reason to believe me as an authority over the sources you’re following, so, stay in good health yourself.

Against a IQ -2SD population, that’s ~thirty points less, even with ~1:10 odds in this silly scenario, they’ll come out OK.Life’s also easy in large parts of Africa (like where it’s warm/tropical and plant food is plentiful) a lot of them are r selected and one word gets out that Europe is no long easy pickings, no longer a big productive population to give them welfare benefits, a lot of the problem will solve itself.
