It probably also really bothers me because these love-centric phrases have been so co-opted by “well meaning” straights who are comfortable with us as long as we conform to their aspirational version of the heteronormative, getting-married-and-raising-a-family, monogamous lifestyle, but not if we’re raunchy, slutty fuckers (and heaven forfend, sex workers!), and it’s a phrase they can use to signal to one another how “progressive” they are. 🙄

You know, since the cis monosexual gays seem to think that: a) bis don't exist or if we do, we don't have any specific needs that aren't met by straight and mono gay rightsb) trans people need to just waitc) intersex people aren't really part of this whole pride/rights thingd) asexual/aromantic people aren't a part of this, eitherwe should just all team up together to form BAIT. Castro— “trans female” is a weird way to put that, particularly in the context of reproductive health, because they were talking around (instead of saying) “abortion,” and I’m not sure if you were just saying, “Trans women are women!” or if you were saying trans men are females or... if you were saying all trans people need access to reproductive health care and choice.

Both candidates who mentioned trans people exist at all, talked about trans issues in such awkward ways that I am 100% sure they have no trans people in their life who trust them enough to actually discuss issues relevant to trans people, and that says a lot to me.

I'm actually really pro-everything that they are proposing, EXCEPT the fact that they want to limit agent fees for *tenants* in order to secure rental apartments because City Council, bless their hearts, believes that the landlord should just pay the fees. A HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA, like landlords are going to actually pay us what we're worth.

Absolutely unconscionable to me that not only the City Council members AND the City department witnesses in this hearing know how the state laws, which govern our licenses and our consumer practices, work. This stuff is literally on a ONE PAGE document that we give to all of our clients. They could just look it up!

How did I *just* hear that the state passed legislation that application fees cannot exceed $20, and that tenants should not be charged if they provide their own documentation for credit and background check?I *hate* that there are landlords who consistently charge $100, ostensibly for a background and credit check that costs no more than $15... Some charge, I am not kidding, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS as an application fee for what, exactly?
