@stux I do have an amazon wishlist for things I want, and they can be bought anonymously (I have done that before, but not much, because it is Amazon).I think it would be a great idea. It is not dissimilar to an idea I have had to allow people to be bought things from anywhere based on a socmed handle or email address (with permission) - so I could buy people I know here things, without needing to know they address. There is a place for a gifting app I think - of some sort.

@stux It is like saying "This is a pyramid scheme, but it is not a scam". NFTs especially - but the whole of crypto currencies - are one big scam.Like with all scams, some people will make money out of it, and so claim that it is clearly Not A Scam. But the fact some people make money out of it does not mean it isn't a scam.Look at Western politics.

@timrichards @joshuazalamea @bookstodon The content is important, yes. But also reading is - should be - a full sensory experience. We are told to write to evoke all of the senses. Reading is about a sensory experience - however they are stimulated. So a physical book can be a different experience.

@stux It is very good. I hope you have lots of fun with it.I jsut wonder if you could get one u.wanker? Then you could say "stux@u.wanker" and you would never get any email there, because people would be too embarassed.

@stux USA - where there is zero tolerance of two people in love, and large tolerance of a 6YO with a gun.It is not a healthy society that.(And I know that ours in the UK is also not healthy for other reasons. I am not throwing stones, just making a point.)

@zleap @godpod https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek%3A_Discovery WIki says 5. Not sure how many I have seen - most of then, I believe. Not always in the correct order.

@science_quotes I see proper skepticism as being a real positive. It should mean not accepting things without evidence. But cynicism - that is not accepting anything that challenges your existing views - leads to terrible bias. And it is easy to move from one to the other.

@kaia Maybe it should be speed limited to 3 MPH? Which might give a chance to get out of the way.

@science_quotes I love this quote. I am writing about Platonic Forms at the moment, and this brings a whole new understanding to them.

@science_quotes Don't agree with Charlie here. A scientist should have passion, and appreciate beauty and wonder. Have desires - not least to understand better. Not let their emotions cloud their rationality and scientific judgement. But still to have them, so they can FEEL the impacts of what they are doing.

@stux Loving these insights.Another thing that always strikes me as odd - they seem to hand their keys to people regardless. In the UK, they would need to be covered under insurance, so it would not be legal. Is that different? It just seems that so often in US dramas people say "Oh take my car" and I know that in the UK it takes a week of planning to make it happen.

@stux In a normal society, that would be fraud without any question. The CEO is utterly corrupt and should be made to pay.

@CommissarMatis On the corporate air travel - our top management seem to spend a lot of time flying around the world to the businesses in various countries.I guess they want to be seen. But nobody cares about seeing them (it is a waste of time). THe whole exercise could be done over Teams. It would be so much better.
