@DecaturNature "I've also heard that some big institutions are exploring adding more support for Mastodon- they move slowly by nature, " agreed, but I add as an individual, I also move slowly. I've a Twitter bot posting photos every day that I will eventually convert to post to the fediverse. It will be a while, perhaps a year, before I have the time to code.

@PurpCat I used to dream of having two floppy drives on our home computer. I thought it would mean I could load games faster with the pc reading one disk whilst I swapped the other. Never got to try.

I'm about to test the repairability of a #Framework 13" laptop. This is an unplanned test... wish me luck! The bad news of dropping it is tempered by the good news the screen is fine, the keyboard is fine. It seems the motherboard is fine but the fingerprint reader is toast.Unfortunately the chassis is not available in the framework online shop so I've emailed support

Update 1: Framework repair parts ordered! Time since laptop drop = 20 hoursThe parts I needed were available in the online store but I was using the wrong words to search.Framework support also replied quickly to my photos to tell me the parts I needed, including directing me to a part that included the fingerprint sensor and costs less than buying top cover and sensor separately.@frameworkcomputer is living up to the repairability hype. Is it hype when it's true?

Update 2: Laptop repaired! The parts arrived yesterday afternoon it took just 30 minutes to swap everything into the new bottom cover & replace the input cover.I will miss the looks from people when they saw me with a half removed keyboard. The only way I could power on was by removing and reconnecting the keyboard, very eccentric and it suited me.I'm thrilled to have been able to repair my laptop rather than replace it, thanks again @frameworkcomputer !#framework13

@futurebird UK kitchen designer here:a) USA power is 120v, Europe is 230/240v. So induction (and electric kettles) have more power available and thus work better for us (power = volts x amps, and most induction hobs we sell are 32Amp version)However, most of the time you're only using the full power to get water to boil then it flicks on/off to maintain temperature. We have 4 zone 13A models where the cost of new cables are too high and clients have no complaints.
