@cstross I used to think you were overreacting a bit to things on your blog. Now I'm in the 'it is worse than Stross said it would be' camp.

@cstross I think it was more that you saw things I didn't see or was ignoring at the time. Didn't help I was reading a bit of LW/SSC stuff, which made me prone to dismiss/rationalize away concerns. But it certainly has been a few years in which decades of change happen. So this all combined in a little bit of future shock.A bit worried it seems to not be contained to the UK/US but spreads. You can now vote for 3 far right dutch parties.

@tante I'd assume if you try to get it to say certain things which are banned in Germany you would run into those filters very fast. Esp after the microsoft Tay chatbot debacle.

@tante love that there are phd people going 'GPT is great, helps me in my research, it dreaming up answers sometimes keeps me on my toes' and people going 'it is great for basic learning!' (might even have been the same person).A system where domain experts have to work hard to make sure it is not dreaming up answers seems to me like not the greatest tool for new people to use as a learning tool.

@tante yeah, there are already "AI" tools to create comments on places. (So as soon as people automate that for spam, unpaid mods will be overwhelmed), art sites and a science fiction magazine were already hit hard by the previous wave of 'AI'.And we have seen what cryptocurrencies have done to services which offered free computing to individuals.

@alex Im a bit amazed she is even taking the job seeing how Musk treats his previous employees, like Yoel Roth who was on his side at first.Funniest outcome would be of course if she came in and tried to fire Musk. "Musk, What would you say...you do here?"

@SuperDicq @SwiftOnSecurity Yes it is. This is why my children are not allowed to watch the Cars movie series (or read Chuck Tingle books).

@tante I think the gamerbros had already decided the game was bad before it came out. See also the guy mad at not being able to land on gas giants.
