       @strypey Interesting. From what I have seen, there is/was a strange and bizarre confluence of fringe left and fringe right at those protest. I would say they are a step away from uniting in their nonsense. My opinion of course. Shuddering at the view of permaculture hippies and wannabe nazis protesting together. If not obvious I am pretty critical about it all.

       @strypey Gene editing is just another technology just as nuclear technology and the internet. Humanity is going to need all if we are to get out of the mess we find ourselves in. Genetics and nuclear can and should benefit all, not just a few greedy corporations. I dont think its smart to demonize technolgy or science. At least it should be open for public discussion. LIke in anythig there are reasons for and reasons against. I think it is important to be balanced and nuanced.

       @freakboy3742 Yes, it does have a military underpinning, but in postwar (WW2)former Yugoslavia it was a term for youth groups which worked on massive public works as volunteers. While the optimism lasted.
