Is there any evidence contradicting the idea of an expert being the best at doing something? I often feel that I am the best at doing the things I have most recently learned or reviewed how to do.

Well I'm on chapter 90 of Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality and I have to admit that this work stinks of sexism. A good deal of people I have met that consider themselves to be rational fail to recognize their own biases, so I am not surprised that this author may be one of them. Oh well.

@zpojqwfejwfhiunz I haven't read that and it looks interesting. I'm working my way through What Counts as Evidence in Linguistics, but some of what's in the book reminded me of Wittgenstein and I ended up reading portions of Philosophy and Organization Theory over on Google Books. I like it and think it might be my next ILL request.

@digdeeper If you read it, there are two things here that deserve noting:1) It's only required for "restricted scopes" (like if the app accesses the contents of your email)2) It's only required if the application is going to fetch that data to their servers, which a local mail client does not usually. I have seen some that look like local clients, but fetch your email to their servers and then provide it to you. This is what Google is trying to avoid.They're trying to protect users here.
