@BootsChantilly I had no idea this was a thing! This has been happening to me for years. I remember the first time was when I had a fever as a kid, but afterwards it kept happening randomly, once every few months. Sometimes when I'm about to sleep or I just woke up, Isome parts of my body feel out of proportion, blown up like a balloon (usually it's my limbs or my head, but the most unsettling is my neck). And I also have synesthesia, so you could be on to something...

@BootsChantilly Oh, and I haven't had vertigo (yet), but both my mum and my older sister have it (so there might be some genetic connection there as well).

@BootsChantilly You're right! I hadn't thought about those lyrics for a long time, but that's just how it feels! The thing with these symptoms is that they're so vague and difficult to describe, and they don't seem to pose a risk to one's health, so there's no real reason to describe them to a doctor unless they happen too often. It's the same with synesthesia: most people find out about it in adulthood and have no idea what to do with that knowledge.

@futurebird @kechpaja This brings back some memories... When I was finishing my MSc thesis, I used to stay late in the lab writing. Next door was the reptiles lab, so they kept feeder crickets. And of course one cricket escaped into our lab, hid under our freezer, and kept serenading me every night for one month.

@futurebird @DrorBedrack I learned that First Law at age 8, when I decided to keep ants in a plastic cotton buds box that I carried in my school bag.(My parents were not amused. Neither were the ants, I'd say.)
