So, my current rules of energy and work seem to be:When I'm well-rested and energized, I write.When I'm moderately well-rested and feeling okayish, I design.When I'm feeling tired and a bit dumb, I do graphics (mapping, page layout, etc).When I'm feeling utterly wiped out, I work on fonts.When I'm feeling too sleepy and stupid to do fonts, I endlessly tweak the wording in Applesauce. 😅 #TTRPG #TTRPGDesign

I'm a big fan of random tables, especially prompty/inconclusive ones. I always make a stack of them alongside every project, and I never know 'til I know whether any given one will stay quietly in the mountain of dev-crap, or actually survive into the book.I love the heck out of all of them, though.I was a tester on GURPS Terradyne back in the day and there were SO MANY tables cut from that draft. 😬 Mostly conclusive ones though, so I would have cut them too, probably.#TTRPG #Random

I just read some random Tunnels & Trolls stuff from a few years back and I just feel better about everything.I've played T&T on and off over the years, as both GM and Player ... But I haven't played a LOT of it. And I'll probably continue as I have, since it's interested in different stuff than I am in many ways.But I just _like_ it so much. So, my font project for the evening is tucked away and I'm starting on my RPG work ... and the way I typically do that is I do a quick one-off adventure design to warm up, in a randomly-chosen gameworld. My randomizer pointed me to Twilight: 2000 and ... I instantly got sucked in re-reading Free City of Krakow. 😅 I hadn't read it in several years, and I've been meaning to, anyway, in relation to Hammondal. And yeah, it's every bit as good as I remember.Okay, actual work time now.#TTRPG

While it's nothing close to the Star Trek RPG I can imagine, the FASA game is still the closest thing we've yet had to a professional stab at Trek RPG.I used to write books and chapters for one of the ... less ... professional attempts.The _least_ of them also tried to hire me: ugh.Part of me still dreams of the Real Deal over the horizon, someday, because I love running and playing Trek RPGs.I'd be happy to just buy it, like with Buffy. Speaking of dead RPG projects; one I remember often is Undying Mars.This was a Call of Cthulhu sourcebook, from whatever remnant was legally using the Chaosium name that week. Ken Hite was the project editor, Robin Laws was on it, I was on it, etc. CoC, Mars colonies, with nods to all the Mars things: a Barsoom-tinged adventure, a Bradbury, a Lem probably. Could've been very good. I bailed before it died. Cursed from the start, IMO.#CoC #TTRPG

Marvel Superheroes, from TSR, was the first RPG I ever owned, read, or GMed. I GMed it having never played.I was really bad at it. REALLY bad. A living lesson in "it's easier to learn this stuff from experience."I was so _very_ bad at it. 😅#TTRPG #MarvelSuperHeroes

I think City-State of the Invincible Overlord (Bledsaw & Owen, '77) deserves tremendous credit, not _just_ for kicking off the entire genre of FRP city guides and for being Just a Bunch of Fun a lot of the time, but also for, arguably, being one of the hobby's first, biggest steps into trad.#TTRPG
