@JDS only reason teachers were ever having to teach social emotional learning is because many children did not know basic conflict resolution and politeness. Emotionally Damaged children were no longer in Spec. Ed classes. Too many of today's children are being raised with Emotional Trauma. #teachers needed to deal with children that threw furniture, and verbally and sometimes physically, attacked students and teachers. #SEL helps eliminate bullying and violence.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan I like TicTok in small doses. It's good for comedy and cat videos and videos of strange zoo animals. Tic Toc does an interest survey and shows you more of what you favorite. It's what you make of it. I've yet to see a single challenge. I also watch a lot of household hacks.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan I watch with my son. On my phone. So he's not exposed to the challenges or the quack ideas. It's how I found Mark Roper. I saw him on tic tok then went on YouTube to see his long format engineering videos. Watching with him I can discuss content. I also swipe up (skip) and tell him that's trash. And explain why if he asks.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan you are right to be concerned. There is a lot of Conspiracy theorists on TT. If you have plenty to watch that's great! My son asks me to see it. He hears about it from friends and relatives. For me it's necessary so he knows he's not missing anything. And can talk about something he's seen there.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan that's very cool. My daughter is the one who was into history and we steered toward very intellectual reading/tv. My son has a IQ of 68. It is a challenge for me to find things at his level.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan you didn't at all. I find TicToc like any online resource can be used for good but needs monitoring. But i understand that it's not for you. I love it when parents encourage their children in their interests and find resources to help them. I'd love to hear more about your daughter and her research.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan i love that you are allowing her to pursuit these interest! I actually was not allowed to read Greek mythology as a kid. Greek is an excellent thing to learn. I took a course of it when I was very young. I found it very interesting. I occasionally wish I had took more than one course.

@That_One_Guy @Mrfunkedude @raphaelmorgan I also love history. My favorite show on YouTube is Tasting History with Max Miller. It's a cooking/history channel. I'd love the name of the book you are reading on mythology. All I know is Nature/Spiritual/Christianity mix I was raised with. My grandma was from Canada and had a odd mix of tales about canoes, tree spirits, muskrats, Great Spirits, and Jesus. These are great to share with your child.

As I scroll through the news, I am saddened by how far we have come from the ideas of the constitution. Freedom of religion was not meant for the religious to enforce their values on others. One group after another are being stripped of their rights. Who is next? We need an action plan more than just vote. No one should be able to vote away the rights of others! #randomthoughts

#today yesterday's appt was surreal. Full disclosure: I have ASD and a mild speech impediment. Nurse did intake. I had copies of recent blood tests. Low sodium. High glucose. Lots of different whites cells counts too high. Doctor tells nurse for me to make an appt for Jan 2024. Husband calls to find out what happened. Doctor says it's his fault for not coming with me as doctor is unable to communicate with me. We are just stunned.

@Phangurl #today my husband got him to agree to run a glucose test for diabetes. And I am going to follow through with that but I'm going to also start looking for a new doctor. It's just impossible to find PCPs taking patients right now.
