@lina @quid That it can, but I don't like wasting Lowry's or white pepper because it usually means having to visit another store entirely to buy them, and that runs the risk of wanting to see if they have any good cheeses or sausages I could use aside from my go-to Jarlsberg and parmigiano reggiano.

Now that I think about it, have there been any shows that were supposed to come out as supplements to a bigger series, but ended up coming out first and having to just make shit up because the actual series didn't have anything to base it off of yet? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Galaxy Angels.

@lina Nah, Galaxy Angels was supposed to be an anime companion to the game series, but the game got delayed while the anime was still obligated to enter production. So BROCCOLI let the studio do the equivalent of what the Ghost Stories dub treatment, except for practically the entire show right off the bat. I should have specified that I meant less so “The anime’s gone past the manga or made a few extra scenes to fill out airtime” and more so “The animation studio knows basically jack shit other than the design of some of the characters, part of their personality, and a shred of the plot/setting and have to come up with something out of it, no matter how outlandish”.The Rozen Maiden bit is neat, though.

@crunklord420 If you can find it, the 1938 memoir "Alone" of Admiral Richard Byrd's 1934 expedition might interest you, especially since it's written from a retrospective of what was a near-lethal self-isolation experience for him. I was re-introduced to it through Jacob Geller's "Fear of Cold" if you just care about the general overview and some of the more interesting excerpts rather than reading it in its entirety.
