Anyone else feel like most of the stuff online is just various techbro's / productivity bro's selling their latest program / class? I can't find anything of substance anymore for all the algorithmic b.s. Everything is an ad. Videos, classes, podcasts, etc. it's killing my soul. It's like that thing where all the music starts to sound like pop and then you realize it's on purpose and you don't get it... Why would you do that?

@masstransitkrow Same. It's causing a huge spike in offline hobbies for me from nalbinding to possibly getting a dulcimer in a year. I can't even listen to music anymore. I know there's going to be a point soon where I give up on the internet outside of federated stuff. I'm almost there now. The need to bust out the record player and go look for some used records is strong.

Herbal textbooks for year 2. What are they and what do they do?1. The energetics of western herbalism vol. 1 & 2.These books are a series of plant monographs/ profiles that explain in detail what a plant is, what part is used, what it's used for, how to prepare it and much more. They are the plant encyclopedias of the herbal world.

2. Medical Herbalism. This book is essentially a textbook. It teaches about chemical compounds found in plants by type (terpenes etc.), Pharmacological information, and the second half covers health conditions, what they are, what they do, what herbs may help, and what ratios of herbs to use.

These are the books that are recommended for preparing for year two of an herbalism apprenticeship. Before getting into these types of books you should be proficient in:- Making herbal simples, tinctures, salves, compresses, glycerite, oils etc.- Know how to write your own plant monographs.- Learning the scientific names of the plants you work with and preferably growing them, harvesting etc for sustainability.- Plant i.d. - Studied about herbalism through the seasons.- Studied body systems and anatomy. (Holistic Anatomy)- Do an intensive study of various herbal antivirals, antibiotics etc. and know how to make them.

A lot of herbalism revolves not just around studying the plants properties. But learning how to study holistically. You tend to learn how these plants live, where they grow, how to tend, forage, harvest, and process them and how they affect your body. Then you learn about yourself and your body's systems. The interactions between you, the plants, and the earth through the seasons etc. It's a huge topic and it becomes not just something you study or work at, but kind of what you live. It's really fascinating and if you have the opportunity to get to learn it. Do it. Take back something from this capitalistic dystopia and help something better come into being.

Lunarpunk |What if colonization never happened? How does that influence our choices and our future?(Flaw: It did happen. How to we go back to go forward?)

One of my main criticisms of solarpunk has always been that without widespread systemic change on every level it will still end up perpetuating colonialism and capitalism. The very fact that so many people can't imagine a world without capitalism, AI, NFTs, DAOs, or crypto means a lot of people are willing to dream... But what they are willing to dream isn't liberating but a green capitalist veneer. A solarpunk world through this lens is still capitalist. It still perpetuates racism, colonialism, patriarchy, ableism etc.

This has been eating away at me for years and I didn't know how to put it into words until now. Solarpunk has the power to make drastic change. But it cannot unless the people dreaming, creating, writing, and building it work on rebuilding the very foundations of everything... Including the ideologies that they may unknowingly perpetuate. It's a very big deal and it requires a lot of listening, a lot of unlearning, and a heck of a lot of work.

As for me, I'm definitely Lunarpunk. I've been working really hard to unlearn white supremacy, colonialism, racism, and all the other b.s. we are living in. Of my 30ish years on this planet I've been steeped in it for half that time and I absolutely hate it. Being multi-racial makes it harder and it puts more a burden on you. You don't fit anywhere. Your history is lost to colonization. Your roots are gone. But you got to back anyway to go forward. Pick up the pieces you can, hold them tight, and make something better for future generations. Do that. Do the work. We don't have anything without it.

Sorry I haven't been on here much actually saying stuff outside of fundraising. I've just been really overwhelmed with what's happening to our planet and it makes me so angry that I end up essentially speechless. But today I went to the woods and while they're more mangled than the last time I was there thanks to colonialism... I got to see like 20 turkeys, deer tracks everywhere, I slipped in waterlogged silt, I froze from the cold wind, I saw a hawk up close, and the water still ran. The persimmon tree is still standing and hasn't been found, the wind still rushes through the branches. Get outside if you can and enjoy it. It's something we still have time to save.
