@killyourfm That's definitely a great idea. It's something that I've also considered, although I am not very confident about my ability to manage the instance properly.I am curious, though. Will it be just you on your PeerTube and Mastodon instances, or do you plan to make it available to more people over time?

@killyourfm @Disputatore Yeah. That's definitely the sensible thing to do when starting out.By the way, if you have "JasonTV", "JasonSocial" and maybe even "JasonGram" (PixelFed), you can probably call it the "JasonVerse". 😂 I apologize for the bad joke. I had to make it. 😃

@killyourfm @jonhicks Unlike the current logo, this one makes it very apparent that Thunderbird and Firefox are related. It looks great too! 🤩

@wiredfire @killyourfm I quite agree with you.The real issue here is the lack of transparency and possibly user choice. If anything, it's very likely this will be enabled by default and impossible to opt out of.I do think this will definitely become an integral part of the "Windows Experience" rather than just being a gimmick, though. It's quite powerful to be able to change system settings or crunch data by just asking Windows Copilot. It's amusing how Windows as a platform is changing.

Pika Backup is a seriously impressive piece of software. I've been using Deja Dup for quite a while now, but this is better in nearly every way.If you need a backup solution on Linux, give it a try.https://flathub.org/apps/org.gnome.World.PikaBackup#Linux #FOSS #App #Apps #GTK4 #OpenSource

@killyourfm @alecaddd @thunderbird Let us know once the song finally gets released. I'll be looking forward to it. :coolmsn: 🎸 🎼 Also, I do agree that "The Thunderbirds" do sound like a pretty swell rock band. Here's to me hoping it will actually happen. 🤟 🔥

@tuxedocomputers By the way, do you repackage development-related software, like VSCodium and Docker?

@tuxedocomputers That's a pity.Although VSCodium is unofficially available as a Flatpak, it doesn't always play nicely. It would be great if Pavlo Rudy's Debian repository could at least be added to TuxedoOS by default. It saves the trouble of having to do it manually.https://gitlab.com/paulcarroty/vscodium-deb-rpm-repo

@tuxedocomputers I tend to stick to whatever format that is officially supported by the app developers. However, I would prefer if more apps are distributed as Flatpak. I find it more convenient and somewhat more secure than other methods.

@BrodieOnLinux @slyecho That's actually possible in Okular using the "Pen" tool. It's not anything fancy but it gets the job done.

@BrodieOnLinux I believe the most practical solution would be if UBO partners with Mozilla to provide an integrated solution for Firefox.

It appears that YouTube now loads videos slower on Firefox.https://www.androidauthority.com/youtube-reportedly-slowing-down-videos-firefox-3387206/Google has pretty much confirmed that this is intentional and says it is meant to deter users of adblockers. Here's another YouTube video that goes over the issue and examines a bit of the code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4gXhmzQztEIf you want to fix this, you can either spoof your user agent or add a custom rule to uBlock Origin.https://www.ghacks.net/2023/11/20/youtube-video-loading-delayed-fix-inside/#Firefox #Google #YouTube #Privacy #Adblock

GIMP is currently being ported over to GTK 3.0, which would probably also allow it to work natively on Wayland. The release schedule for GIMP 3.0 is set to May of next year, but it's going to be tough. So, if there's anything you can do, please do consider helping out.https://librearts.org/2023/11/gimp-3-0-roadmap#FOSS #OpenSource #Design #GIMP #Artist

@BrodieOnLinux I honestly think we should take advantage of the exposure we'll receive from Threads and make more accessible instances that advertise themselves to more mainstream users.Just outright blocking Meta or only hoping they "play nice" with us is probably going to end badly. Instead, we should be trying to expand our own foothold.#Meta #Threads #Fediverse #Mastodon

@BrodieOnLinux Actually, I'd say that Mint is unifying, rather than fragmenting, Linux desktops. There are a bunch of desktops who aren't served by the specific goals and needs of the GNOME Project.By creating a separate "XApp" organization, Mint is choosing to collaborate with all these other desktops to create an alternative to the GNOME ecosystem.I think it's a pretty valid reason to do this and it may also improve the quality and standards of alternative desktops in the long-term.

Who knew that it's possible to boot straight into UEFI setup by just running "systemctl reboot --firmware-setup"? 🤯 It makes all those times I was mashing F12, as soon as the computer started booting, utterly pointless — especially after getting Linux installed.Well, at least I know about it now.#Linux #SysAdmin #Hardware

I really recommend anyone who uses a GTK-based desktop to try out "Resources".https://flathub.org/apps/net.nokyan.ResourcesIt's not only looks pretty, but it also provides some sorely missed features in most default system monitors on Linux. Some of the biggest ones for me are GPU monitoring, battery monitoring, temperature monitoring, and a clear distinction between apps and processes to prevent me from having to hunt down individual processes to kill an app. It's just a way better experience. 🥰#Linux #FOSS
