People respond differently to bodily autonomy. Some are scared by people holding power over their own lives. Others consider bodily autonomy a condition worth fight for it if they must. All are responding to the fact that there are institutions that deny us agency over our own lives. Some cheer, justify or excuse those institutions. Others wish to see them destroyed. The fact that those institutions can be destroyed is objective. There are criteria we can measure to know if they have been effectively destroyed. The destruction of those institutions is also some people’s objective in life, as in goal.Things like the RoeWadeBS will trigger more people into despising, questioning and wanting to destroy certain institutions that hold power over them and others. It might not be easy to put a number on the amount of people, but maybe they will be enough to effect a change that will change everyone’s quality of life.

Telling someone off can be a right response given the right prelude. It can actually be quite beautiful. Like punching back.Showing anger is believed by some to be inherently violent. Others make room for it depending on the situation. However, it can be violent to demand people repress their emotions to suit your comfort or that they not defend themselves when it inconveniences you.Inadequate responses often lack scale. A response being out of proportion to what triggered it is not necessarily in denial of what happened it, but the usage of scales might be way off. Even when the situation did not "demand" it, showing anger is okay. Anger is just an emotion, but who decides how it should be expressed? Some scenes decide to right out banish it. Others limit it. Because it serves a purpose.Instead of focusing on whether it is proportional, we can figure out what triggered it and what can be done about it instead of ignoring it or shoving it under the rug. Showing anger can be disruptive and we can make room for that and benefit from it.Even if such an expression is retrospectively out of proportion, opportunities might arise. Misunderstandings may be cleared out and the usage of scales, because they were tested may be improved. Embrace disruption, moving on is actually easier if we collectively make room for big emotions.

@freeschool Long post are often not worth it. Some people's time is just that much more valuable, it is not about them overvaluing. Also, you seem to be asuming way too much over how people choose to engage. I recommend using CW on longer post so people may choose to engage with what interest them instead of it having it clog up their screen without warning or way to opt out.

In the coming times of economic hardship, destigmatizing sexwork should take a priority. Punishing people that do sexwork or their clients is punishing poverty and consent. I hope that people that explore sexwork as an alternative income know that there are networks and ways to reduce possible risk and harm. That they have rights because they are workers and sexwork does not devalue them.

I often think about my city before colonization. The advanced tech and science that made this city an edible garden. More than 5 centuries of resistance later, all is not lost. I have reasons to hope, while I weep for all that is forever lost.

People that just wanna criticize parts and not the whole are cowards. To those acting like making bold critiques is gonna tear the world up... I wish it was true, but it is not. No need to get scared because someone said something, even if they are wrong. Please stop the thought policing!

Sure there are "bad actors" in some institutions. But reducing everything to bad actors protects bad institutions. Protecting those institutions because they do some good things, is just like protecting abusive people because "they are not all that bad" except it is worse because you are making fail safe ways for abusers to do their thing when backed by an institution. Those good things can still happen without the abusers I promise, we can get rid of them it will not be the end of the world.

@freemo Counting only children that got killed does not consider the total impact. All children and adults in the school are impacted, but also those not inside or in the vicinity. They might just happen to identify for other reasons, like also being children or teachers and be affected.Second, it is not rare when compared to many other countries.Third, I think there are many other social problems that if addressed would positively affect people's lives and would also impact the school shootingś frequency.

@freemo Sure I get it, just mentioning that the impact is large and very significant. Surviving such events as a child, or just having them happen within your development, may have profound consequences, like life long propensity to PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicide.. I think it does warrant huge concern.I also believe addressing it, should go beyond access to guns, because the US has deep issues that should also warrant huge concern. Like all the wars they get involved in, directly or by proxy.

@freemo USA Adults that were taught as children what to do in case of a nuclear attack, describe the negative life long impact it had on them, growing up believing they might have to face that. Entire generations were impacted. Sure some individuals suffered more than others but the consequences were generalized.Children that nowadays have to participate in school shooter drills are also impacted. Entire generations are being impacted. Not to mention, indirect consequences, like teachers quitting or money being diverted for that instead of other stuff.I fear for the rest of the world, because these generations of US children will manifest their trauma not only within the US, this will affect foreign policy and geopolitics.

@freemo If children's well being was really a priority, there would be free school lunches, free healthcare for everybody, free housing, inexpensive quality food and education, salaries that actually allowed people to own their house and have control of their lives, one month vacations per year, no involving yourselves in wars which should not concern you...Politicians and intellectuals love invoking the wellbeing of the children to advance their interests, but do not push agendas that actually promote children's well being. Maybe they fear destroying the perfect cause they invoke to promote their interests.
