@tomasino one bit of brokenness that annoys me is how CSS is used.CSS is super. One stylesheet file for a whole site, and those styles declared in the header and occasionally elsewhere in the HTML pages.Quick, clean.Actual use: a whole stylesheet for each paragraph or title or word, embedded in a monstrously swollen HTML file.I blame MS of course, and obscurantists.

@futurebird Wood makes durable items, and when unmade can be remade to new durable items. And can be finished and refinished, as an alternative to showing its age.Chipboard etc doesn't.

@futurebird Castle Drogo nest here, about 100 years old, has nice Oak in narrow but not identical planks. Deliberate by Lutyens.A Tudor house even nearer has a few boards that might be 7" but mostly timber that size and up was reserved for the Navy.I'd say a variation in widths is a clue to authenticity, and if you can fake that you've got it made;)

@futurebird Learn also about the Cabbage White Butterfly. One year one or more got into our cabbage patch.Later, we heard the seemingly synchronised sound of a myriad caterpillar mouths crunching the diminishing remains of our crop.#cabbage #apocalypse #butterfly

@strypey Compulsory attendance, then. There is no way to stop spoiled ballots, but it is possible to counteract laziness and oppose vote-supression.

@strypey The words most often found adjacent to "no confidence" are, I think, "a vote of". (Albeit in practice the vote is usually of confidence, for ancient reasons)So it is, in effect, voting. In Athens when a matter was to be discussed by the demos, ropes soaked in purple were swung through the agora.Possibly hard on the non-citizens.

@stux if they were in Leicester in the middle of the antepenultimate century, they'd tell you that they didn't need it, didn't want it, and could do it all with public health measures.Idiocy isn't new.

@futurebird Look at it, then do something else, sleep, return to it, why did I think it was tough? Do the easy bit, iterate.

@futurebird It can be surprising how swapping bits of odd meals can liven up each end. But it is good children share and help.

@futurebird Once upon a time any computer could generate and send (e)mail. So send an address and some text to mail and iterate through lists and it was done. Then people started to want bold, italics, comic sans etc, and a word processor got involved, and it got harder. And then Google partly solved the spam problem and it had to go through their server, and got harder.
