@futurebird Albeit corporate, I find YouTube still offers a lot of good content, both politically free and educational. Of course there's crap too, but it's easy to avoid.Whenever a creator I follow complains about censorship or 'the algorithm', I leave a comment describing PeerTube as an option.If I was a YT creator with a lot of followers I would mirror every video to PeerTube and link from the YT site. After a while the PT page would attract people directly.

@futurebird @scribblanitea Oh my god. Last year I stumbled across the GAKHED video/song 'Will you remember me?' and it really choked me up. I've loved pets and seen them go. It's a hard reality for such a tiny life.

@futurebird I write code from equations and it is frustrating. To understand the language of math I have to:Know what Greek symbols are called, and have those symbols on my keyboard so I can write them and search for them.Know the precedence of operations I've never seen before. Assume parenthesis where none are written.Or: Know a math professor OR quit my job to get a degree in mathematics.I'd like to see a library of equations all translated to algorithms. It's a simpler vocabulary.

@futurebird Oh man I read that back in the 1970s. A woman wrote a sort of response story to that based on the same premise but with different outcomes. Unlike Consider Her Ways, the extinction of men did not mean the end of sex, and society did not become a hive. Wish I could remember the title.

Not the high level stuff, but if you want to turn 1 million phone calls into searchable text, you've got it. If you want to categorize millions of pages of searchable text into "dissent?: yes/no", it won't be as reliable as humans, but no human could process such volume.As for deception, maybe it won't fool an idiot but it might confuse one. That compromises maybe 33% of USA, enough to win any election.

@futurebird Your suggestion that the camera feeds should go to public screens is interesting (because I had the same idea, haha). If a public space is covered with cameras but the feeds are all visible to the public, then it is still just a public space. Except that crime and police brutality will always have witnesses.
