@agx @dos Do either you know anything about the @craftyguy patch used in PM OS to fix modem drop outs on the Librem 5? Do you know why such a fix hasn't been merged into Pure OS on the L5? My modems drops constantly when I'm using it.

@agx @dos @craftyguy Sure here is the thread with the question and the solution on implementing it on the L5: https://forums.puri.sm/t/troubles-staying-on-network/19264/18

@mattj @j With how streamline Prosody already is, do we know if there would be any performance or efficiency improvements if it was redone in C or C++?

@craftyguy Nheko is pretty close and it is native, which is to say it isn't just a web client in a wrapper.

@craftyguy @JustineSmithies Librem 5. But I have a Shift 6mq, does Postmarketos support all of the hardware there?

@craftyguy I would bet money on this being a qemu issue versus this being a win 95 one.

@agx @devrtz @purism These posts are much appreciated but always such a tease, because it feels like weeks after you announce before I actually get the update.

@craftyguy Totally agree! Nothing at all like that today. But I assume you have heard of Framework? I've been a customer for a long time, and I am very happy with the longevity of their products. I still have a 1st gen 13 from them with 12th gen guts in it. Still going strong and working well. On top of that I have several mainboards doing family computer, server, and media center duties. Old Thinkpads rule, but Framework makes me not miss them nearly as much.

@daniel Agreed! Although given the current environmental concern, I doubt this will ever happen again.

@kyle @jorge I'm really just curious cloud based in the context of this distro implies? I see that it relies heavily on containerization through flatpak and other technologies, but what does this really mean? Is the system immutable?

@daniel With how efficient Conversations is doing it's own notifications and maintaining a connection to the server, I see no reason to ever need the play version. Great work on that!

@daniel @threemaapp @fdroidorg I really support and appreciate your efforts, but the comments you get, and the thread you linked to is what is wrong with Mastodon. It is a big dumpster fire for broad hipster unchecked uccusations and agenda pushing. Can't we just focus on the technology?

@torvalds expecting no response: given the longevity and breadth of the monolithic Linux kernel, I wonder if posed the question again of micro verses monolithic today with the advances in compute and memory if you would still prefer the monolithic approach? That said, thank you and the kernel devs for all of their work! You all are heros!

@brave I am noticing that when I try to search for images using brave search I am being asked to pick between bing and google, and then this opens another tab with pictures from the respective search engine. This is not how this used to work. I'm curious about the reason behind this? Is this because you have completely separated all 3rd party support within the search platform?

After a long journey I have finally come to the conclusion that the best OS out there is the one with the best software. Linux is an interesting desktop solution and a great server solution. But all the in fighting just holds it back at every corner. Sorry, using WPD, Simplewall, and Wumgr you can tame Windows, have access to the most software period (windows and Linux (via WSL)), and not deal with hardware driver issues, meaning new hardware! It just works the best for me.

Here is my Penkesu. I wanna thank Penk Chen of the Cutiepi Tablet fame for creating this and making possible for others to build. I am still working on a few things for it, but I am VERY impressed with just how capable the Pi Zero 2w is. I currently have the following things configured and usable: Dino, MS Code, VNC Viewer, Evolution, Dosbox, and Libre Office. The built in Chromium browser can handle Rocket Chat instances and most websites. Very happy with it!
