       @foone I remember PC-like (MS-DOS, not clones) machines that were either metal (Sirius1, iirc) or mostly plastic (with some metal shielding): Apricot computer. I think the PS/2 were more plastic on the outside as well, but could remember wronglyafair all PC/XT/AT clones had metal casing. mine was a flip top for easy access to the peripherals

       I consider the US no longer a place to be viable to hold a safe ISO SC22 WG21 meeting or any other conference I might be interested to attend or speak at from Jan.6 2025 onward. What will be the options?WHY?

       @linuxnews Ich musste vor fast 6 Jahren kündigen weil ich den Sch... der Leitung und Politik nicht mehr gegenüber Mitarbeitenden, KollegInnen und Studierenden vertreten konnte. War aber in der komfortablen Situation das es finanziell keine grosse Abhängigkeit mehr gab, so konnte ich meine Werte erhalten.

       @jschauma It is astonishing how much of my 1980s teaching of UNIX systems programming is still relevant. i would say that I covered at least 70% of that material then in my trainings (System V was current then)
