What is a good laptop to run Linux on? Other than Dell XPS Developer Edition or a System 76. (Note: Nothing against those. I just want some options)

@fatboy I don't plan on using the Brave Search Engine because Brave is not my primary brower and Duck Duck Go is good for me.

@unl0ckd The benefit of Ansible comes with new laptop. It would allow you to automate the setting up of the laptop. For example, if you always install certain packages.

@mike In the end, yeah it is about the money. Because Epic wants its own App Store on the iPhone so that they can get the 15-30% take on selling apps. But the question I have for people is this. If an app was sold by the Epic App Store and caused harm to the phone (like bricking it), who would you blame? Would you blame Epic for selling the application or Apple because their phone is a brick. My guess the latter, even though part of this battle with Epic is trying to avoid that exact situation.

@mike This also assumes that the research reverse engineered the algorithm correctly.

@mike The one thing that I think is awesome about the M1 chips are that they are SOC. That means the RAM is built into the chip (yes it means it is not upgradeable) and by putting it directly on the chip that means there is faster access between the memory and the CPU. No need to traverse a bus to get to the memory.

@mike What really surprises me is that AMD and Intel and not offering the same kind of SOC for laptop manufacturers. Especially, for the thinner laptops where you don't have the possibility to upgrade memory or graphics.

@mike But the M1 SOC design is not for just the MacBook Pro. It will be for the low end and high end Macs. As I said, I know that is limits the ability to upgrade the pieces of the computer. But I feel like the overall performance that can be achieved would be worth it.

@mike understood and when it comes to creating a new chip every time they need to increase RAM. As crazy as it sounds. Yes.

@be understood. It is a temporary solution until everybody has a hardware token to use for the explicit requirement of authentication. Note: using a hardware token for identity purposes is the wrong approach.

@stux I always thought the blue check mark should mean that the name that used on Twitter was your real name and it should not be about status. And then add a setting in the Twitter client to only show verified content. I would be happy to pay a few bucks a month for that.
