@lmgenealogy @autismsupsoc If it hadn't been for the Internet and being able to selfdx myself in my 50's I would still be one of those "broken horses". How many like I was, born before the internet, are still out there? How many still labouring under a mis-diagnisis? How many who have no other means of learning about this? For so many of us selfdx is the only way.

@alan_matts @autism101 @actuallyautisticWhat Alan said. But also what grief I felt was more about the future, the realisation that the hope I'd nurtured through my life, that one day I might find a key to fitting in, was now dead.

@actuallyautistic I am currently re-watching #Sense8 on Netflix for the, lips moving furiously as I stare upwards until finally giving up trying to calculate such a huge number, for the umpteenth time. It is one of my favourite comfort watches. Not only is it very good, but I found it very relatable and then I realised I was #autistic and knew why. It is essentially a show about those who live on the raggedy edge. Just as I had all my life, always on the outside looking in.#ActuallyAutistic#Autism

@iro_miyaMy understanding is that it arose out of autism tags being swamped by non autistic voices, such as NT parents. It is meant to be a place for autistics only, whether they be self or officially diagnosed or even people who think they might be.

@rabia_elizabeth @actuallyautistic It is my observation that for the most part allistics tend to be far more externally motivated than autistics. Which means they tend to see themselves in relationship with those around them. In terms of relative status and position and in terms of feeling validated and affirmed. It makes sense therefore that "who they are" would be couched in those terms. As opposed to the more internal processes that autistics tend to favour.
