@IdahoLark I think all citizens who hold drivers licenses are at risk. At this moment, especially everyone from those five states. But this is a trial balloon. They'll expand this if they can.

According to the UK Telegraph, Belarusian dictator Lukashenko is 'having trouble' controlling Wagner forces from attacking Poland that fled to Belarus after the supposed failed coup by Prigozhin. @KimPerales Sorry Kim, that really sucks. But I think we're all heading for that ending at Twitter. My follower count keeps declining as people I know leave the platform or are booted.Mastodon isn't as active, but at least it's not run by a kook.

@KimPerales And it's horrible. I agree with all of that. But the reality is, we can't stop Elon from destroying Twitter. Or X. Or whatever he wants to call it. The best we can do is regroup elsewhere. Hopefully somewhere where an oligarch can't destroy our carefully built social networks on a whim.Again, I'm really sorry.

@ParadeGrotesque Mastodon isn't that hard. The worst part is that it needs a legit FQDN, meaning you have to be online to test. That's b0rked.But lack working canonical URLs and simple sign-up has really hindered adoption. It also needs quote toots.Funny thing is, HubZilla already does everything. It's amazing. It just needs UI simplification. But it can even migrate posts and do account data failover secondary servers.
