There's a trap here. How can you be sure that what you know about your country is not local propaganda?

You are a stupid idealist. In 50 years, there will be nothing left of human rights. Did you know that 4 days ago the UK convened an advisory committee to better balance the interests of big business and government in the Bill of Rights (or whatever it's called there)? Supposedly the intention is to remove the secrecy of correspondence and freedom of movement from human rights for a start.

Didn't this poisoning begin 100 years ago, when a repressed fraction of left-wing thinkers from Russia settled in Western universities?

       >the media landscapeAnd what percentage of non-governmental (i.e. non-subsidised) media are there in your environment? I am curious because in my country the "liberals" are using the smoke and noise of war to stifle the last non-governmental newspaper. Could this one be a relic? Maybe other countries have already strangled them?

In Lithuania, most retail chains have removed the Respublika newspaper from the shelves "in response to numerous requests from the people". This wording is absolutely disgusting, because in the Soviet Union all violence was carried out on behalf of the people and at the numerous requests of the people. The question of how the disappearance of a non-state-funded newspaper would affect society can be broken down into two (at least): whether it would make the press less free and what the effect of a free press on society would be. I believe the answer to the first question is probably yes, because ownership is the most unconditional guarantee of freedom. Why society needs a free press - there is a whole tradition of arguing why and I have so far taken their arguments as a given, but it would be interesting to find a detailed and substantiated view that a free press is harmful to society.

Since there is no official document defining "rule of law", this statement, by including an undefined term, is equivalent to allowing yourself to do whatever you like.

The reason for this attack on Poland and Hungary was their declaration that the Constitution takes precedence over European Commission regulations. It takes a serious flexibility of mind to reconcile this attack with your definition of "rule of law".

       >accept a limit to their personal freedomProbably not. The idea of freedom was best portrayed by Rembrandt in this painting depicting a city militia parade. Firstly, freedom is achieved only through collective effort. Secondly, it is a group portrait of people of equal legal status. Thirdly, the militia has a commander whom they have elected and to whom they obey. Fourthly, it is a portrait of armed men. Fifth, they are not funded by any state. Sixthly, the free people and the people's militia are united. Seventh, the painting is paid for by the militia itself.

When does the loss of freedom happen? When did the townspeople make these people who then joined the militia rich by choosing their products or by choosing them as employers? Yes, of course, every choice limits freedom. Times have certainly changed, now not only the most decent, the richest can afford enough arms to join the militia, as in the Netherlands in Rembrandt's time.

Whose law? Why did the EU's war against Poland and Hungary intensify after they claimed to have their own constitutions and laws?Everyone is copying Putin, just with different time delays. For example I'm pretty sure Tor will be banned in Europe in 2 years. That is the average delay in copying Putin by the EU. They need this time to make a dozen TV series with the main location in a morgue, where children will die from information obtained via Tor. Then, to great and continuing applause, they will ban and give themselves medals for protecting children's lives.

I apologise for the intrusion into your little get-together. I have serious difficulty in classifying the burning of incidental property. Is this a democracy event or an anti-democracy event or maybe democracy has nothing to do with it?

Not necessarily wrong. Probably just pointless. No doubt he accurately describes the relationship that exists between the vision of the practice of democracy that exists in his head and the values that exist in his head. To me democracy is a bloodless method by which society, by hanging weights on every limb of the state, forces the state to kill, rob and rape fewer people than it wants to. Does this democracy work? Absolutely. Just compare the intentional homicide rates in democracies and other countries. What does he envisage? Democracy will give Heaven on Earth? Nope. It won't work. Everyone sees Heaven differently.
